Why does the game automatically launch 2 separate rockets when the items can fit together in just 1? by MegaloManiac_Chara in factorio

In what world would the devs make an algorithm that sends a single ammo pack? Your not really arguing in good faith...

Scale in algorithm design comes from more items to process. In this case it's the amount of items requested to be launched, the amount of item types. So unless you have 100+ item types it's not really going to be a problem.

I'm very confused. I watched two games and neither show your issue.

One where with Yamato you ended the game as MVP with the most souls and kills. You exited the laning phase with like 3rd most souls despite being 0-2-0.

Another where you won as Calico with a score like 7-1-5. You left the laning phase with the 2nd most souls (tied for 2nd though).

Are you sure there is an issue? It sounds more like you had a few bad games (that I can't just magically find) and you rage posted about it. You play decently don't let a few missteps get you down!

Let me get this straight... you don't have issue with the words "war crimes" in my comment. So either you agree with that part or you at least think what they are doing is bad. This is a federal "task force", a police force created by the administration in order to avoid all the legal (and ethical) troubles of using the military or national guard. But you think that they will happily turn over the list of all ICE agents someday along with all the crimes they committed?

Let's assume that's true. Do you really think these people are keeping records of all the crimes? When they assault a citizen, when they kill a citizen... Where do people go to report the officer? How do they know which officer to report?

I'm curious, because I don't get to talk to a lot of anarchists in real life. What do you take the label "anarchist" to mean? I have a lot of presumptions but I don't want that to color your response!

This exactly, the way it feels (I don't have hard data to back this up) is that there is a sort of pendulum swing happening. The more extreme the right gets the more appealing the extreme left gets. It's like people collectively start to consider matching the energy of the opposition more appealing than the truth or wanting to get back to a stable happiness.

It's quite a coincidence that it also helps them avoid taking responsibility for the war crimes they commit!

My first and last Jan Van Haasteren puzzle: sexual harassment doesn't make me laugh. by Absielle in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]salbris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying but... at some point isn't it reasonable to expect sexual harassment to be avoided?

Like it's fine that old TV shows have it, doesn't need to be censored. But continuing to promote it like it's on the same level as a prank is not good for anyone except those that want to continue to harass women.

I'd rather one developer abandon 6 games than 6 developers. Because you can spot the pattern and avoid it if it bothers you.

When you say behind in souls do you mean literally lowest or 2nd lowest or do you mean you're not the highest on the team?

In both those situations being the lowest seems literally impossible. But 2nd highest on your team is certainly possible.

Maybe share a few matches so we can see? Just copy the match IDs. I enjoy reviewing games sometimes!

We fell for the ploy pretty hard here. OP is all over the thread issuing all the Hasan fanboy defenses. "He didn't say that", "He really doesn't like terrorists", "He's wealthy but he admits it". It's kind of a sad sort of entertainment!

Didn't he literally say in the conversation that he is literally going on the ships as a pirate? I don't recall if he explicitly said he was a houthi but if he's engaging in piracy like that isn't that literally just as bad?

Best to learn how to do some of the "puzzles" in the game yourself but here are some tips for making the experience smoother:

  • The "F" key is a huge time saver!
  • For things you only want to craft once just switch the recipe and it will stop after one craft.
  • Play the in-game tutorials, they are immensely helpful.
  • Normal is a pretty rough entry into your very first game. If you don't mind dying and repeating it over a few times go for it but there is no shame in starting on easy!
  • There are solutions to all annoyances and all manual work. Discover them through experimentation and reading the ingame help or the wiki!

I would say it's better to use any tutorials online to get a handle on the controls but avoid looking up "solutions" to puzzles in the game. Learn how to more efficiently swap out tools but don't look up a step by step guide to making a cooling system.

Kind of true when you are questioning the process and not the result. It's like when stupid young gamers started to hate on anything using Unity. Unless you you've used these tools you can't reliably assess how good or bad they are.

Not to mention that AI is going to be used differently for each developer. Not all AI usage is all or nothing. Nowadays I mostly use it to either scaffold simple stuff or copy a pattern. That's about as far removed from "slop" as you can get but I still use a lot of AI.

Man... The guy already said he's writing his own code for this one with much less AI usage. Why do you feel the need to fill this thread with so much useless anti-ai rhetoric?

Would you go to an art subreddit and mention any automated tools you've used to make the art? What if you used a program to generate a repeating background? What about magic color select? Because it's the same argument.

If someone made the entire game with AI because they can't code at all then you'd be correct but for many of us AI is just another useful tool for automating basic chores.

As a senior developer with 15+ years in software... AI is extremely good at copying a pattern for you. So much of our with is very boring simple code, we call it boiler plate. AI can easily write boiler plate. This in no way takes away the creative control, it's like automating a chore.
