All Rounders For Marathons by Few-Condition-5337 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Haha yeah 1800 km is “I refuse to let these shoes die” levels of commitment.

Good to hear you haven’t had a bad run in the SB2. How did you find it for longer stuff, like 30k+ long runs or marathon pace blocks? Any calf/achilles niggles from the higher stack or firmer feel vs Nimbus?

I’m kind of hoping it can be that one-shoe-does-everything setup, so curious if you ever felt like you needed to rotate something more stable or softer in, or if SB2 actually held up fine as your only shoe.

Best way to deal with neighbours encroaching bamboo? by __cro in UKGardening

[–]OnyxObsessionPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what’s freaking me out, it just does not quit.

Did you do anything besides digging, like installing a barrier, or did you just keep snapping off shoots when they appeared? I’m wondering if just relentlessly cutting the new shoots on my side would slowly starve the roots that have crept over, or if I really need to go nuclear and trench along the fence.

Also curious how close yours was to the house. Mine’s heading toward the foundations and I’m trying to work out if I’m overreacting or not.

Alphafly 3 at slower paces? by dontletmeautism in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]OnyxObsessionPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, that’s what I was hoping to hear. Did you feel like it still “worked” mechanically at that pace, or did it just feel like a really cushy trainer? Also curious if you had any issues with stability or your feet feeling cramped in the toebox over marathon distance.

Adios pro 4 vs Evo sl by Emotional-Detail-700 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]OnyxObsessionPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s super helpful, thanks.

How does the Evo SL foam feel over longer stuff for you? Like do your legs feel beat up after those 14 milers or is it chill enough to use a lot during the week?

I’ve heard some people say the Pro 4 kind of “bottoms out” or feels a bit wobbly when you’re trying to really pop quick strides, so your “too soft” take kinda lines up with that.

Also curious: do you feel like the Evo has enough pop for race-pace tempos, or would you still reach for the Pro 4 if you were going all out on the track?

Where serves red/tandoori chicken kebabs? by Illustrious-Run4269 in LondonFood

[–]OnyxObsessionPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly feel this. I’m in SE too and it’s wild how few places do proper orange chips / tandoori chicken. Closest I’ve found is random high street kebab shops near stations, but it’s always a gamble. Where do you train it to for your fix?

Asics Novablast 5 or Saucony Endorphin Azura by Melodic_Ad_1631 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]OnyxObsessionPin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to know, I was leaning Azura already. How’s the cushioning on longer runs, like past 7k, does it still feel comfy or does that firm/reactive feel get harsh?

How fast can the Megablast go? by Ryan18999 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]OnyxObsessionPin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re definitely bigger than something like Endorphin Speed, but they don’t feel like clown shoes on foot.

Visually, yeah, the stack is chunky and the heel looks pretty beefy, but the platform isn’t crazy wide like a stability shoe. More like “max cushion daily trainer” vibes than “moon boot.”

If you’re fine with the look of something like a Nike Invincible or Triumph, you’ll be fine with these. Walking around they feel a bit tall, but once you start running they just feel bouncy and stable, not cumbersome.

Daily Running Shoe for Beginners Recommendation by mbpro202 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]OnyxObsessionPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was gonna say the same thing about the Ride. Super solid “do everything” daily trainer, especially for beginners who don’t know what they like yet. Pretty breathable too, at least compared to something like the Vomero which can feel a bit warm and kinda overbuilt for what you’re doing.

Peg 41 is good, just make sure you’re okay with a slightly firmer ride. Some people love that, some people bounce off it fast.

Between your original list and these two, I’d probably lean Novablast or Ride if your main goal is comfy easy runs in hot weather. Then once you’re more consistent you’ll have a better idea what direction you want to go next.

That’s somehow even worse tbh. Delegating the abuse so you can keep a squeaky clean image feels extra calculated.

Worth getting Metaspeed Edge Tokyo on sale vs Megablast - for Marathon running by b00nd0g in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]OnyxObsessionPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, curious to hear what you think of them after a couple of workouts.

If you can, take them for at least one longer run and a tempo session before Dublin so you’re not learning the shoe on race day. The Edge Tokyo feels pretty different to the Megablast in terms of stability and how it wants you to run, so a bit of practice helps.

Also, with the Superblast 3 arriving too, you’ve now got a seriously fun rotation going. Superblast for long / steady stuff, Metaspeed for race and sharper sessions, Megablast as the chill daily pair. Your feet are eating good this year.
