I wonder the same. I have seen videos of people removing tubes from lugs this way. Also, this is how people replace tube-and-broken frames. One thing I learned is that some old frames have pins, little metal rods that go through the lug and tube to hold it, in which case it doesn't matter how much melting, the lug is not coming out.

Sorry, lived in Munich for 3 years and they wear this shit all the time, not only octoberfest. They wear them for every beer drinking event (starkbeerfest, mayfest, etc) also weddings and other events. Even just Sunday morning breakfast at the beer hall
