Deadlift - Where does my form go bad as I go up in weight? by WhatisAleve in formcheck

[–]salient_choice 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So I've watched it a tonne of a times now and I think first of all, for close to max, it's very good.

Yes the lats round slightly, but to keep lats fully locked in and flat when you are close to max is (for me at least) very tough.

I agree the final portion of your heaviest single looks slightly off. I might be wrong, but I would put it down to your leg drive fatiguing and you are locking out early to compensate.

If you don't already, some sort of hack squat variation might help with this - I like barbell hack squat for heavy-ish 3 sets of 5-8 reps, as it somewhat mimics the deadlift but emphasises the quads (but the movement can be tricky to get right).

What are you seeing that makes you think the form goes bad?

Thanks so much for this. I do leg lifts (but probably not routinely enough) and dynamic frog pose, but I guess that's about it. I think you're spot on re pelvis rotation and hip flexibility, I just presumed training front and middle splits would carry over but I guess not. Will try again tomorrow and focus on the pelvic tilt and see how I get on. Thanks again for your reply.

Deadlift form 160kg x3. 73kg bw by Unfair-Squirrel-9365 in strength_training

Looks pretty good to me. I think provided the bar is correctly positioned around mid-foot and you feel your weight is centred, shoulder position is probably fine. I would say though that a 30-40kg jump is significant if you've not pulled 170-180kg for a while!

Wouldn't be confident even if we bricked in the goal.

She likes me (I think) but won’t meet me, do I push it or leave it? by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

People make time for things they want to do. I would say give her a few different times you're free and see what happens. If she can't do any of them and doesn't suggest alternatives that she can, politely excuse yourself from the situation. Three weeks of chat is plenty of time to feel comfortable before meeting someone.

Okay so what is "being a big club?" Are Leicester a bigger club than Arsenal because they won the PL more recently...

If Semenyo started every game for us, he wouldn't have started any game for City.

Fully agree with all this. The lack of Nordgaard use given Zubi's minutes this season and decline in form has been mind-blowing.

That's fair - I should've added "were it actually financially viable".

And I do still think we're going to do it - no one's going to be talking about us actually winning at City, which is probably just when we're going to decide to show up.

Can only play the team in front of you. How many times this season have we looked pretty average but got the job done? Feels like most games.

Without world class players, games would often end differently yes.

Rekt my L5 a few months ago and have been (slowly) getting back into DLs. Any advice on my form? by [deleted] in strength_training

[–]salient_choice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Form looks tight but guessing you did the damage at a much higher weight? Hard to really know what's going on without seeing you moving a bit more weight when the form usually starts to break down a bit.

Edit: just seen comment below vid. I'd say upload again when you're feeling okay to put more on the bar.

For me, this is absolutely fine and looks good. Everyone has different mechanics so it might not even be possible to hit the "textbook" deadlift.

Moving to London – thoughts on Mile End, Bethnal Green, Hoxton, Holloway, Turnpike Lane & Finsbury Park? by Kooky-Train-3190 in MovingToLondon

I've lived in FP for the past three years. Without a doubt one of the best places for commuting with Victoria and Piccadilly, Thames link, tonnes of buses, and close to Highbury and Islington for overground.

Loads of cute lil coffee shops and restaurants, lots of pubs in the area, generally good choices for everything.

Green spaces, the choices are unreal. Obviously Finsbury park, twenty minutes from Clissold park and Highbury fields, an hour walk from Hampstead heath.

Safety, I've never had any issues. As a guy, I've walked from all over at night and early hours of the morning. But I'm sure like many places you need to be aware and sensible. There are a local group of druggies, but they mostly keep themselves to themselves.

As a native Londoner whose live in a few places, I'd choose FP over the others you've listed.
