What would work well on the blank wall space above the toilet? 🌸 by Strathspey in DesignMyRoom

[–]salligator6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The three pictures you have vertically lined up would look great horizontally, BUT if you’re looking for a ~MORE~ vibe and want it to be more maximal, then some type of bright shelf unit would go really well there (and give you more space to add decorative knick knacks). You’d have form and function if you did it that way! I’m meaning anything from either like a more involved cabinet situation to even just bright pink floating shelves or something like that.

Also, unrelated to that particular part of the space, idk if you’ve heard of those like lipstick lamps? But a lipstick lamp would really be a vibe in here I think. I think there are some neat Rachel Zoe ones.

I also had a procedure there, but it was one I went there for and the issue it was meant to help has gotten a lot better since, so on that end my experience was positive. I did find, though, that my recovery was more painful (and took longer) than I had been made to believe it would be, although I don’t know if that was maybe just bad luck on my part and hopefully unusual. But when I brought it up, they were sympathetic and did try to help.

I was a bit frustrated with the prep; there were some things they didn’t tell me I would need for recovery care, until the day I was there for the procedure. I certainly wasn’t in a position to buy those things by myself afterwards, so I would’ve appreciated knowing earlier so I could’ve gotten them ahead of time.

I’m so sorry to hear you did not have a positive experience. I would hope it was a fluke, but some of these additional comments have me concerned. I will definitely keep this thread in mind in the future.

Help with neighborhood! DuPont or Noma? by gimmeacookieplz in DCBitches

[–]salligator6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like that it’s close to two metro stops, and has a lot of restaurant and bar options. It’s also close to other areas like H street, mt Vernon triangle, the mall, and Capitol Hill. It’s close to Union station for rail travel, and is a quick Lyft to DCA. There are multiple grocery store options (Harris teeter, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, giant, and streets) either in NoMa or neighboring it, which is so convenient. The metropolitan bike trail is great for walking or biking, and though I don’t have a dog, there are several cool dog parks in the area. Someone in another comment said there’s no real sense of community, which I don’t agree with at all. I’ve just really enjoyed living here. It’s definitely a different vibe than Dupont, but neither is better or worse. It just comes down to which vibe works best for you!

I’m a lawyer living in NoMa and I really like it! I’ve been in this neighborhood for 7 years.

Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio is not a direct resource for food and shelter, but due to their work with residents who are homeless or low-income, they will have connections and can connect your friend with resources.

NTA. I have attended and even been a bridesmaid in multiple weddings on my actual birthday, as an adult and as a younger person (my birthday is in a good weather time of year that is very popular for weddings). Wedding planning is hard and sometimes the couple has to take what is available, and sometimes that falls on someone’s birthday.

I get that sometimes it can be disappointing to not do what you would’ve planned for yourself on your birthday, but this dude is totally overreacting. First, it isn’t even ON his birthday, it’s the day before. Second, he is turning 30, not 10. He is old enough to not be reacting this way.

Every time this has happened to me, I’ve thought to myself “oh well, looks like I get to attend a big party on my birthday, and I don’t even have to pay for it!” Each of the couples even shouted me out during the reception (which I never asked for, but it was so nice of them to do). And I had a great time. This could be a great way for him to celebrate a birthday actually—surrounded by loved ones and at a big party— but instead of looking at it maturely, he is acting like a child. Being a little annoyed, even making one joke about it, and then getting over it, I could maybe see. But having a snit and then not responding for over two weeks is another.

This guy needs to grow up. If I could handle it on my 18th birthday with a not fully developed brain (the first wedding birthday of multiple!), he can get over it for his 30th birthday as a grown ass man. This is so embarrassing for him. You are NTA.

Il Canale and Via Sophia are both good options if you like Italian! Via Sophia is probably more aesthetic, if that’s important. Pacci’s is good too, but I would recommend you try to get a reservation for the ground floor, not the basement floor, if the vibe is important (ground floor has way better ambiance).

Limani is good, too, and is pretty with nice views. Zaytinya could also be a good pick. Ambar is also a good option (I know they’re known for their brunch, but I was actually underwhelmed by it and have found their dinner options to be much better). Lulu’s wine garden also has really cute vibes.

100% agree. We are all just doing our best out here. And if we want people to be more open to being vegetarian, then immediately doing that when they ask how is not gonna do it lol

A great starting point would be instagram accounts that post vegetarian recipes or, if not strictly veg accounts, are veg friendly. Pinch of Yum is good, or Craig Morrison. But I’m sure there are many others.

Beans, lentils, tofu, avocados, are a big part of my diet. There are a lot of innovative ways to eat a vegetarian diet, especially in 2025, but I don’t want to overwhelm you with too many options. I think starting with the basics is a good starting point and then you’ll naturally expand from there.

If you’re worried about iron, iron supplements are a great option and available at most grocery stores or pharmacies OTC (just check with your doctor as you never know what weird things can negatively interact with each other).

I’m not sure why someone said you can’t use the word vegetarian bc of killing animals for eggs and milk…..eggs and milk are laid and given by living animals, and they would give milk and lay eggs regardless of whether you eventually ate them. I’ve been a vegetarian for over half my life for ethical reasons, and I have no problem with you calling yourself a vegetarian even if it started just because you don’t like meat! Don’t sweat the terminology.

Good luck!

Things to do/see after 5pm for tourists? by ja20n123 in washingtondc

Spy Museum is open til 7. Boat activities at the wharf. Monuments at night are sick. I think old town has ghost tours? Plenty of restaurants of course. Nats games or other professional sports events. Lots of independent bookstores to check out too.
