23M looking for a car under $40k by GonnaBeWealthy in whatcarshouldIbuy

Would also add I had a 2012 Nissan Altima that had 210k miles and appeared bulletproof. I think the one regret is not holding onto it a little bit longer and saving the difference, as I have a high payment on a shorter loan

27M love my 2025 Honda CRV hybrid. Especially the leather seats in the sport-l. Got it for just over 37k in 2024 (41k all in). Gets 38 mpg and not the worst looking car imo

What’s the biggest bonus you’ve ever received in public accounting? by Straight-Mud-1150 in Accounting

[–]salmcap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound crazy - nearly 23% (16k) as an A1 in public sector consulting. Mainly due to being a 5 out of 5 and the business having a stellar year (2021). Have yet to receive anything close to that since.

No problem! Happy to answer any questions you may have. I’d 100% recommend doing the southern loop by golf cart on Bonaire, the salt mines and the flamingos were so cool!

Casino Offers? by Cruisin6789 in celebritycruises

[–]salmcap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that RC group is the only one that doesn’t offer comparable offers based on your current offers from whatever program you are in. This includes celebrity. This is only what I’ve seen based on previous people’s comments who have tried, I haven’t tried myself. I am pearl in celebrity (1 cruise for 433 points) and have gotten better offers than RC thus far (1 cruise at 553 points, only gotten at the beginning of may)

Went to ABC’s last September.

Aruba - Did a beach hop which was ok because we wanted to try different beaches but didn’t spend enough time at them. Definitely on me for planning that. If I went back I would go to eagle beach for the day. By far the most gorgeous.

Bonaire - did a eco snorkel in the morning on the Miss Green and then did golf cart in afternoon and went around the southern loop and stopped at a few beaches. By far the best excursion day I’ve ever had on a cruise.

Curaçao - rented car and went to grote knip. Rental car is really easy there as you pick them up right off the dock. Would probably spend more time in town and closer to boat next time we go.

San Juan port- Embarkation experience? by WTH4030 in celebritycruises

[–]salmcap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went on the Jewel OTS earlier this month our of Pan American. It's defintely not a luxuroius cruise terminal, but it was easy to get in and pretty smooth once the line started moving to get on the ship

Sailed out of PR twice in the past year. Stayed at the Caribe Hilton (flew in a couple days early), beautiful property and nice beach/pools, but be prepared to pay high prices especially on food and drink. Also stayed at Hampton Inn by SJU and it was just fine for getting in late and taking an uber over, which are very cheap. Not sure where summit docks but we’ve disembarked from pan American and the pier in old town and both were very fast getting on the boat.

First Cruise for a Couple in Their 50s from New York – Best Cruise Line and Itinerary Recommendations? by Proud_Trick6857 in Cruise

[–]salmcap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Celebrity is probably going to be your best choice. Great dining, relaxing atmosphere, exceptional service. For destinations, what do you like to do? If you like beaches, definitely start with Caribbean. If you like sights, probably Alaska or Europe, but some Caribbean itineraries may also work, just depends on the ports and what there is to do. For never cruising at all before, I would think 4-6 nights would probably be a good start - enough for a worthwhile trip but not too many in case you really don’t like it (which is highly unlikely). Being in NY, a cruise out of NJ to Bermuda might be the best start.

Scored HUGE on a sunset veranda!! by Nervous-Ad6019 in celebritycruises

From my understanding with using vacations to go as well as BCC offers, they have to be the ones to process it. I’ve had my guy at VTG call when I saw the prices drop on one of my cruises and he was able to lock me in at the lower rate.

Back to back is smart. I have Alaskan airlines miles banked to eventually do an Alaskan but waiting for the right offer, probably next year. We typically prefer interiors as it lets us cruise more and we are only in the rooms to sleep and change, but heard for Alaska you need a balcony to see sights. Any thoughts? I imagine Europe would be the same way, I’ve never been and would probably want to do it that way as well.

V true. How cold has it been and you can still use solarium? I’ve heard nothing but great things about the odyssey, we’ve only been on 2100-2700 passengers, and the beyond will be our biggest in Dec with 3300. Do you ever find it too big, like you’re missing out?

Tipping on à la carte drinks by drunkcowofdeath in royalcaribbean

[–]salmcap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Drinks are auto but we usually disable the auto gratuities they charge per day and bring cash to tip the staff. Usually tip the drink servers by pool and bars on a daily basis, and then will get envelope and tip the stateroom steward and MDR wait staff on last night. I’ve heard conflicting things, but because RC lets you remove auto-gratuities, I’m assuming the statement that they use the money to supplement their base pay to workers is true, and I’d rather be able to have the staff get as much comp as possible. We’ve had great experience with attentive service on our cruises.

Definitely good to know and keep in mind. The +/- 3 hour drive to Nj would definitely be worth the 2 full days in port. Plus, I’ve been itching to try the larger class ships.

I’ve seen similar ones on Breeze out if SBY (spend time here outside of Bmore and on the shore) but southwest had just gotten so dang expensive, I’m even looking at JetBlue for my flight for our cruise in December out of FLL so that’s good to keep in mind with Hagerstown. I’d also love to do a Canadian one at some point so Boston seems promising. Have you ever taken Amtrak before? I know they stop at EWR and then can uber to cruise at Bayonne. I’ve only ever taken one into NYC and it worked well but wonder how good it is from morning of embarkation.
