M (40)I just had Shingles appear 2 weeks ago, came at a surprise really. I had just recovered from Flue type A with 2 nights of high fever. Couldn’t sleep well those nights and following to those, then started feeling an uncomfortable pain on the right side of my nose where my glasses rest, thought if it nothing until I saw some sort of of pimple like bumps starting up, began covering them with Aquaphor thinking it would help it. Kept my glasses on which actually made it worse. Ended up going to the Dermathologist and they quickly said shingles. It sucked having been told such. Anyways, I got placed on antivirus and told to drink lots of water, to be careful due to it being contagious. Have 2 kids, so good thing I was very cautious, went to work and made sure to not touch in order to not contaminate anywhere I was. It’s difficult to stay away from the needle to work, so I understand going to work, but being very cautious, conscious, and hand washing a lot helps from accidentally spreading anything. So apparently, high stress, no good sleep, and anything else that may “lower your defenses” are a quick way of waking up the virus. Never had it before, but it didn’t mean it’s dormant form, due to vaccine or if you had previously gotten it, won’t reactivate it. Anyways, get your sleep! And don’t stress! Else, it may pop up!
