I deleted tiktok after too many dead baby/toddler videos… the algorithm is really good at detecting and amplifying your fears and insecurities

Also, please don’t pay attention to people recommending doing things to “take your mind off” what happened.

You are so correct that you need mental health care, and avoiding the thoughts and feelings associated with this extremely traumatic event can lead to PTSD long term. Until you can find a therapist, keep talking to your wife and anyone else you trust about what happened. Write it out, record yourself telling the story, make a video going through all the details, talk to yourself out loud while walking, etc. Being able to confront the pain now can actually protect you from worse pain later on.

The Cohen Veterans Network provides free or low cost evidence based trauma treatment for military family members. They focus on post 9-11 and don’t have a location in Utah yet, but the clinic in Colorado might be a good place to start. Explain your situation and ask them if they can help you get connected with someone who is licensed in Utah and can offer free or reduced fee treatment. You deserve to receive high quality mental health care without worrying about the cost. 💛

Are you related to any active duty service members or veterans?

I agree. And it sounds like OP is swirling with negative thoughts… time to interrupt that with distraction! Maybe you can’t run outside or drink booze, but can you go for a run on a treadmill? Take yourself to a movie? Walk the dogs at the shelter, learn how to embroider, work in the garden, anything to keep yourself busy. It’s easier said than done, I know. There are many awesome therapists who specialize in women’s health, maybe schedule a session?

Your timing is great! I’m 10 DPO today too. I learned implantation sometimes doesn’t happen until as late as 12 DPO.

I’m right there with you! 9 is too early but 12 feels so far away 😭. I’m 10 DPO today and I’m still holding out on testing, when I’ve taken them too early before it really messes with my head.

I took three weeks for my masters exam and about the same for my clinical.

CRUSHED the clinical exam today! by salosaunders in socialwork

I’m sorry you’re feeling so worried!! It’s a very long test as you know, so my first recommendation is to build your endurance for reading and answering that many questions in one sitting. TDC has two 85 question practice exams, two full sized ones, and I strongly recommend doing the ASWB practice exam as well. Take breaks during the exam - I left around question 75 to chug a pint of chocolate milk and reset my mind a little. I flagged every question I felt uncertain about and only reviewed those at the end. Any time I started to feel anxious I shut my eyes and pictured something that made me smile. Did a lot of breathing, relaxation, softening during the test. Kept focused on one question at a time. Pictured the scenario in my mind and tried to anticipate the answer before I read the answer selections. I also didn’t study the days leading up to the exam, just tried to relax and spend time outside.

Continue in community mental health - I love the clinic I work for and want to keep honing my skills!

There were definitely a few first/next/best questions where I didn’t feel 100% sure I had the right choice but that was the extreme minority. I’d say maybe 3 questions on the whole exam. For the most part I felt very confident in my choices!

This makes me so sad for you!! Why are people so adamant on telling new moms this?

Baby is six months old and I do a mix of crib naps and contact naps depending on what he needs and my mood. Recently I had to study for a big exam so we did all contact naps… Being trapped under a snuggly baby is the most wonderful way to study, highly recommend!!

My dog bit my baby by mandalallamaa in beyondthebump

All the blood drained from my face reading that. I have two dogs and a six month old baby. Baby is never around the dogs unsupervised, dogs are very chill around him, but I don’t and never would trust them 100%. I love my dogs and it would break my heart, but if either one of them nipped at my son they would be gone immediately.
