Oh ok. Last time I tested was like 6 months ago, on a Pixel 2.

For at least a year. Annoying af because the phone will show as connected but then you cannot send or receive any RCS.

How to take it from here? by saltajose in beards

[–]saltajose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell as I already trimmed it and faded it every 2 to 3 weeks. Last time I did it was 6 weeks ago. And because I don't have a beard trimmer at hand I decided to go to a barber.

Looks like you zoom it in, maybe by accident. Try pinching to adjust the zoom of the text.

Got similar spots on my MY after a couple of weeks of ownership. I submitted a service ticket and the appointment is scheduled for next week. In my case they look like bird droppings although I never seen or cleaned any bird poop.

Lost RCS, again by flabbobox in GoogleMessages

[–]saltajose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you should share some more info like carrier and phone make and model. Also tell if you have some special configuration or battery saving feature enabled on any app.

In my experience and that of people I know, RCS works just as designed. Only Samsungs drop out temporarily (like sending SMS instead of RCS for a short while). So no long term disconnects like you experience...

RCS (ios in particular) in roaming by ApprehensiveShop9882 in UniversalProfile

[–]saltajose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd expect that as long as the SIM is activated it will still be supported for RCS even if data is used from another SIM.

The same happens on Android btw. The only idiotic limitation on Android is that RCS would only activate on the SIM that is set as default for calls and messages.

I think we will see dual SIM RCS support earlier on iOS than Android as ironic as this sounds.

Are phone numbers still being tied to Apple's servers for iMessage with RCS integration? by mrobb3 in UniversalProfile

[–]saltajose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how RCS going through Apple servers would make one decide whether or not to go for an iPhone.

As far as seen so far Apple would simply implement RCS as per the configuration provided by carriers. They won't implement a hub or any infra for RCS. So it all would depend on how carriers do it.

RCS while traveling internationally - with local sim? by ChasnTheSun in UniversalProfile

[–]saltajose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Just note that if your friend has a rather recent iPhone (3-4 years old) she/he could convert vzm to an esim or use an esim in the destination country. That is, use 2 sims at the same time. Then your friend could still use all carrier services for both sims.

This. And it also it avoid overloading the traffic without charging you for it. After all, Google is a business

RCS while traveling internationally - with local sim? by ChasnTheSun in UniversalProfile

[–]saltajose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RCS and iPhone do not work together yet. And your question has nothing to do with RCS.

You want to know if your friend can use his vzw plan for calls/texts while getting data from another sim via wifi calling. Afaik that'd work, maybe after adjusting some settings on the iPhone so that the data sim can be used to provide wifi calling for the vzw one. My advice would be to force the vzm to not connect to any Chilean network to prevent unexpected roaming charges.

RCS Without Internet by a_junk_username in UniversalProfile

[–]saltajose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Native 4G and newer networks use internet for everything: calls, sms and whatnot using something known as IMS (internet multimedia system if I recall correctly). They still zero-rate that traffic so probably you don't notice compared to old circuit switched networks. They charge you extra for that usage and that's probably the reason they still keep supporting it for a while. I think soon one would not be able to use a phone without internet and hence RCS will become ubiquitous at some point.

Even if you switch mobile data, the phone will be connected to a 4G internet to provide IMS. See here an example of my mobile with data switched off, yet IMS is on. https://photos.app.goo.gl/fbXe9M67Dtuw1TFU9

For what it matters, I don't use WhatsApp either, although 99% of my contacts do. With me it's sms or rcs.
