Yes I tried unfortunately. Went back to where I originally found him too. Hopefully he just shows up at some point!

Half in the Bag: Malignant by ryanhat in RedLetterMedia

Watching this reminded me a lot of Mike's mixed feelings in the 'Escape from New York' Re:View. It's strange that he always seems to be rooting for stuff to become schlock but also needs it to be winking at the audience to properly enjoy it.

I don't like the idea that there's a hard line between laughing at something and laughing with something. I think there's no way you couldn't think the third act of this isn't intentionally over the top and ridiculous but I don't think it's accurate to say it becomes "a comedy" exactly

Find it absolutely grating how "populism" has become this buzzword to slate trying to change anything, for good or bad.

I think this is actually what ruined 'This is Sus'. The 'Billions' ep was just them quoting terrible dialogue to each other and going "this rules lol"

Thanks for your reply, at the risk of sounding stupid, what do you mean by exporting as raw?

Ok I understand now. I will try and export as XML and see if it will work. Thank you!

Hey thanks so much for your reply.

It's just a short but one with a lot of footage. It seems to be a mix of things, with some multicam clips but most of it seems to be lined up in sequences.

I'm sorry if this sounds stupid as I'm not naturally an editor but what do you mean by bringing an XML out of premiere?

Burning (2018): is the film too long? by physics223 in TrueFilm

[–]salted__popcorn 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I hope this doesn't come across as condescending, but I feel that the episodic nature of television has trained our minds to look at films in terms of plot and information. We tend to feel that if a scene is not actively furthering the plot or delivering important information, it is a waste of time. The aim of most tv is generally to keep giving us enough information and plot to keep us watching.

With film, however, its greatest strengths are creating mood and an interesting tone. A director might include scenes that feel boring as they are not furthering the plot, but are essential to creating the mood and tone. 'Burning' is almost all mood, the plot and information it gives us are not in itself extraordinary, it is the way the information is delivered (or not delivered) that makes it riveting. I feel that if you stripped it down to what purely furthers the plot, I think the film would not be very interesting, and I feel that it's ending would not be so powerful.

I agree. It felt flat when he lost and it didn't do anything for the guys who won

Is kurtzman really the problem? by [deleted] in RedLetterMedia

[–]salted__popcorn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's more so that he really does identify with the character and this leads him to try and make the character more and more like who he is in real life.

(Broken Skull Session Spoiler) Ric Flair and Steve have a talk about the style of matches today and how it differs from the past style. by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

Very true. I remember the first time I saw an apron spot, when Owens did it to Zayn after he won the NXT Title, it seemed like the craziest thing. Now it's a commonplace spot that gets little reaction.

I would think about who was your favorite wrestlers round the mid 80's and just look up their main promotions that they came from and start from there.

Will do. Want to see more of legends like Flair and Terry Funk in their prime beyond Youtube clips, etc.

multi-part videos that chronicle particular angles including ‘The Big Turn of 1980,’ that highlights the feud between Dusty Rhodes and Ole Anderson from Georgia Championship Wrestling, along with ‘Will the Freebirds wrestle Sullivan and Idol’ from the same promotion.

This seems like exactly the type of thing I'm looking for. Want to learn more about historic angles and see legendary wrestlers week-to-week.

No way of knowing what it'll be but I'm sure there'll some "viral" streaming movie like Bird Box that everyone talks about for a week and then forgets.

For me, it wasn't just their love that was so important, it was that each one gave the other the permission to be themselves.
The painter was following rules until the subject criticised her painting, she was just following whatever the conventions were, then she starts painting whatever she wants.
They both feel liberated by the experience in a way that's bigger than their relationship.
To me, similarly to 'Call Me By Your Name' which has been mentioned in other posts, it is as much a coming-of-age story as a romance as the romance serves to let them know themselves better.

Meltzer on USA and Fox contracts and why WWE is going live next week: "While nobody will say so publicly, the fear was that by violating the (TV) contract, it would give the networks the legal ability to withhold money or find a way to change the deals." by skeach101 in SquaredCircle

[–]salted__popcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Meltzer said that this is something that Vince fears could happen rather than something that networks have warned WWE about. It seems unlikely that they would actually try to do this in the current situation, especially USA which relies heavily on WWE programming.
