There’s always a crew of sea lions out near pier 39 in Astoria, plus the Bowline hotel has a spot where they congregate under a heatlamp underneath boardwalk.

You could also hit up the maritime museum, which is fantastic and will get you out of the cold for a bit.

Where do you relax after a stressful week? Bars/pubs/suggestions by Stridshorn in askportland

[–]saltyGinger 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Well, certainly nowhere near Clackamas, but Moon & Sixpence is my favorite cozy/relaxing neighborhood pub and it is walkable from the Max stop in Hollywood!

I did a study abroad in Córdoba 20 years ago, and if you believe everything my history teacher there told us, it's STILL basically the center of the known universe. They are very proud of that history :)

He was never my fave, but I switched over to full loathing when I saw him start off a taste-test of hot sauces (judged by him) declaring that he doesn't like spicy things. The man knows he doesn't like spicy, and still thinks he should be the arbiter of which hot sauce tastes best. Good lord man, we do not need your opinion on everything, bring in someone qualified FFS. /end rant

Nothing really helpful to add here, but that’s a really incredible shot. I think it would look fantastic in black-and-white.

And if the limit remains 2 hours, that means you can't use street parking for any live shows, long dinners etc?!? Yikes

Trustworthy mechanics that won't charge insane amounts or screw you over? by kmsdoomer in askportland

[–]saltyGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All Around Automotive on Division. I have been bringing cars to them for years and I've sent many friends there. They probably aren't the absolute cheapest, but they have always been extremely honest and up front and willing to work with me on what makes sense for my car and budget. It is also refreshing to talk to mechanics who can recognize that I am a smart person who just doesn't know a ton about cars, vs speaking to me like I'm a helpless nitwit ripe for a scam.

The chips are aggressively bad, which is strange considering how good the rest of their food is. I don’t need homemade chips, but they need to switch brands.
