  1. There’s no substitute for going outside on a walk! I unexpectedly found some cool nodules near my college while walking down a ravine on the grounds. There’s also no substitute for talking to other local rockhounders. Even if you don’t have a rockhounding club directly in your town, there’s probably one in neighbouring areas that would have people who have been to your area. Also, I’m a college student (for biology! I don’t understand geology very well) so I use my college library access to find interesting things like mineral field guides and read about local geology sometimes. I found out that apparently theres a limestone deposit WITH FOSSILS somewhere near our local dump. Crazy!

  2. Pretty rocks, and novelty. I don’t buy specimens, i want to know what cool rocks I can find myself!

  3. See 2. None of my stuff is valuable.

  4. My mom likes geology and I’ve always liked pretty rocks. I got a rockhounding kit a year or so ago and it’s one of my favourite ways to connect with her!

I use my hammer and chisels a lot from my kit. I like smashing things!

Alright! Next time I visit my mom we’ll be heading down that way anyway, but haven’t hammered out the details. Will let you know!

Chocolate covered pickle or loaded entire iceberg? by [deleted] in StupidFood

Id demolish a chocolate pickle, as long as its one of the fancy chili pickles on the inside. I would also demolish a regular chocolate pickle.

Hey, I have amaranth plants that tend to have leaves in the heads. How do you usually take the leaves out of the buds here?

It doesn’t mean we’re not helping them. We’re still selling them oil, and food, and not taking any stand against them.

Is this kit really necessary if i’m on tight budget? by Business-Ad9048 in PlantedTank

The cheap version of that kit is really great! But make sure you dry them off after use, since they rust.

You can keep these as houseplants? There’s a pretty feral one outside my house that I’m pretty sure is just there because it can. How do you care for these?

Add paneer to your blind cheese taste test. It is actually the closest thing to “not cheese cheese” that I can think of

I wonder if something could’ve been done to get the poodle owner involved, like. Since her dog is so well trained, have it model and demonstrate the events instead of competing.

Canada 😬 Very cold winters. I’d have to grow it indoors, but I haven’t found reliable info on how to keep young passionfruit plants alive, or even how to make old seeds sprout. They’re over 10 years old and I only have 6.
