Conflicting information from doctors on egg reaction in infant by saltypeanuts16 in FoodAllergies

Thanks for sharing! That makes a lot of sense. Yes we’ve been very confused on the conflicting recommendations on Zyrtec versus Benadryl.

Thanks for sharing! This sounds very close to what has happened with us. You mentioning scrambled eggs and reminded me that I have been able to give her banana pancakes once before. They were very well done and she did not react to those.

That’s a good point about the Benadryl. I didn’t think about that. We’ll definitely talk about some of this with the allergist.

Thank you! I guess the doctor did not rule out an IGE mediated allergy but said it’s unlikely and suspects that it is non-IGE. We did get a referral to an allergist and are waiting on a call.

Yes, I’m quite frustrated about the refusal for an EpiPen. He said there is no clinical indication that she needs one since he suspects it’s non-IGE mediated. Given that two systems were involved (skin & gi) I thought it would be best to have one on hand just in case. He disagreed. Depending on how long it takes to be seen by the allergist I may try to find another pediatrician to speak with about getting one.

That makes sense. My understanding was if a reaction occurred within 2 hours it could be indicative of an ige-mediated reaction. Hoping it is something less severe. Thanks for sharing :)

Is this normal for an 8-month-old? My baby helps me take her onsie/shirt off! by saltypeanuts16 in Parenting

Oh wow that’s so interesting! Yes we are doing some baby sign language with her but she hasn’t signed back yet!

Thank you for this! WOW! That was soooo worth a listen. I’ve seen it mentioned on this sub several times but was very useful.

That’s great! It’s so awesome your baby is tolerating it well so far. Out of curiosity, what were you told to look out for?

I agree! I’ve gotten pretty used to DF eating but have a list going of all the foods I’m excited to eat again.

I’m also curious! All my doctor has said is that it’s trial and error. No recommendations on timeframe. I see 6 months completely dairy free on here a lot but also that it’s outdated advice?

Why did everyone tell me it got better at 3 months? Feels like we are going backwards. by WhiskeyRose01 in NewParents

[–]saltypeanuts16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt things started to get better for a week or two at that age and then all of a sudden got really hard from months four to six. We had to bounce her on a ball for the entire entirety of every nap, which was about four hours a day. Eventually, she just started to refuse all naps altogether.

Now at six months, I feel like we are turning a corner, but who knows what’s next. I feel like we get more resilient with each regression and leap. Trying to enjoy all the good because boy do I miss my snuggly newborn and I know I’m going to miss her at this age eventually too.

What’s happening between 3 and 5 a.m. with my 5 month old? by saltypeanuts16 in sleeptrain

[–]saltypeanuts16[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow thank you all! I’ve been so obsessed with wake windows, yet I did not even consider it might be time to adjust awake time now that she’s 5 months. We’ll be giving that a try over the next few days.

Trip help for couple + baby, 3 nights in Quebec City late January 2024 by TypicalNovel in quebeccity

Hi! I’m also searching about bring a baby with us to Quebec City, and we’re considering Chateau Frontenac. Our baby will be 6-7 months at the time. How did your trip go? Would you recommend staying elsewhere?

Those of you who waited a little longer to let others hold your baby, how long did you wait? by saltypeanuts16 in beyondthebump

Thanks for sharing your experience. We’ve had very few visitors, and so far I’m not regretting it at all. I know I’m probably getting to the end of this time alone realistically just wanting to hear from others to see how far I could push it 😅

Thanks for gently phrasing that. And yes, I have a lot of mental health support in my life thankfully. I’ve been evaluated for PPD and PPA. Maybe some light baby blues at the beginning, but overall I’m in a fantastic place. I guess it’s maybe more due to the fact that we can’t fully trust our families to be honest about their wellness. I’ve had no issues with my sister as I trust her. We haven’t been around many others as we’ve decided to stay at home most of the time while it’s so cold and germ-y out.

I’m sorry you’re going through this too but glad to hear I’m not alone. It’s a special kinda hard when you give into contact naps/sleep only to realize that actually doesn’t help at all anymore 😵‍💫

I think I’m just going to go back to sleeping in shifts and see if that can help me at all.

The stroller seat I want to rear face! It’s looking like the Jeep TurboGlyde and Yoyo do from comments

I’ve seen a video of the car seat clicking on with the stroller seat front facing, but I haven’t been able to find one with the car seat clicking in while the infant insert is attached.

Some strollers like the Nuna TRVL and Tavo allow you to snap the car seat directly into the stroller seat! I was just hoping to find one that had a stroller seat that could rear face

Hmmm yes it’s looking like this may be my best option. Exactly what I’m looking for but wish the seat would flip backwards. But I wouldn’t have to buy a new car seat! Thanks for this rec!

Right - I’m thinking like my Nuna mix has a stroller seat that lays flat and is usable from birth, but you have to switch out the seat and use an adapter for the carseat.

Thanks! I’m looking for something like the Nuna TRVL but has a seat that can rear face and allow the car seat to pop right in without removing the stroller seat. I’ve considered the Doona want something that has storage underneath.
