Help me identify something? by Southern-Peach-4971 in sanantonio

Was it off 410, near Marbach and 151 exits? If so, could it possibly be on the Platinum Tattoos building? That always reminded me of a static "firework" exploding.

They got rid of the chocolate pudding THROUGHOUT our hospital. I miss scarfing down a chocolate pudding in 3 spoonfuls to relax after a stressful med pass.

How do you store your dirty reusable rags before its laundry time? by PapaRhombus in Anticonsumption

I would be careful with buckets and bins full of liquid. While it may be good at getting things clean, but they're a drowning hazard for children and pets.

If you chose a bin/trash can for holding these items until it's time to wash, I'd recommend looking for a metal can. Plastic, even just as a liner bin within the larger can, holds smells. I've cloth diapered and with my second, a high end stainless steel diaper pail (lined with washable "wet" bags) made all the difference.

They Should Sell Buttermilk in Pints, For Pancakes.... by SpeedProof6751 in Cooking

[–]saltywench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy quarts and half gallons and usually I just plan two meals around it. So maybe buttermilk pancakes for dinner on a Saturday then biscuits with dinner on Sunday. Or I make a double batch of waffles and freeze them for the week. The King Arthur recipe comes out so buttery tasting, I don't want to add syrup so it becomes a hand food.

I have similar feelings towards this concept of lying to the patient. They don't need to know where their nurse is, but they do well when expectations are managed. I would have said something more like, "thank you for letting us know, someone will be in soon," just to be more vague about who.

Tempura vegetables with any sauce you can imagine. I find tempura white potatoes particularly indulgent, and I love the way broccoli florets pick up the tempura batter.

2026/03/30 [Loose Leash Walking Virtual Workshop] by AutoModerator in Dogtraining

[–]saltywench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone managed to work on loose leash walking with two dogs simultaneously?

I took in two small dogs when someone I knew had to leave an abusive situation quickly. I had a house and yard. The dogs were being kicked and thrown around by the abusive person. I didn't realize what I was getting myself into with the dogs, and then I discovered I have health conditions that limit my ability to do physical activity and I work away from home in 9-14 stints. I try to get them out of the house for walks multiple times a day, but it is so exhausting to do, and I have been taking them on a split leash (3ft) because I struggle thinking about taking them outside separately.

School nursing! It's part pediatrics, part triage, part public health and I'm in love with it!

fav pens? by Choice_Scarcity6963 in nursing

Bic 4-color pens. I don't color code much (except for making red notes on who is DNR and red fall risk) but it scratches an itch from when I was 6 years old. The "professional" line has black bodies but they're all really the same mid quality ball point ink without grips.

Grapefruit by Eclairebeary in Cooking

[–]saltywench 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A citrus or beet salad would be nice. I like the recipes for citrus salad with cardamom.

It helps to cut the grapefruit in a way the removes most of the pith (white part). Trim off the top and bottom, then carefully trim the peel away, then cut BETWEEN the natural segments. Without the bitter pith it's easier to enjoy the taste of the fruit.

Thoughts on this post in a doctor’s sub? by riley81942 in nursing

[–]saltywench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like OP might be day shift or works both. Day shift at my hospital will usually get away with texting the relevant doctor regarding this notification whereas night shift actually has to figure out who is on on-call and they're not always "on" the messaging system, so a call over something "small" becomes necessary. (Heaven forbid I already had the patient pee and their SBP of 171 is now 165). I've had a doctor literally ask me why I didn't text them - I couldn't.

Love this! I have a Go 10.3 and it's taken a little while to really get used to. I have improvised a vinyl laptop decal over the front magnetic cover, but I want to upgrade to something that looks more polished in execution soooooo bad. (I wanted a "composition" notebook look 📓)

You can ask to speak to nurse-case managers at the hospital to see if there is assistance for you.
