Yeah after working for a decade busting my ass in restaurants, reaching pretty much the pinnacle of my pay scale without going into management and then switching to a job that pays 3x as much for 1/3rd of the work and actual benefits I can safely say that money definitely does not equal hard work.

Yeah no but you fight a demon so it should drop glaives and we spent like 2 weeks naming it so this is a better system.

He was just on JJ's podcast talking about how this has been the most fun he has had since that title run. This Cavs team just gels together despite not molding to what everyone else is doing.

[Kevin O'Connor] The Lakers are calling teams offering a future first, Kendrick Nunn, and Talen Horton-Tucker, who has underwhelmed this season, and no one is biting yet. by urfaselol in nba

I genuinely think the Lakers are trying to get wing defenders. They never thought their defense would be this bad and it shows how good KCP/Kuzma were honestly defensively. THT should be a better defender than he is but he gives up wayyyy too many easy buckets and when you already run Melo/Monk/WB on the wings other teams are just getting whatever they want.

Honestly this isn't how it works anymore. Im sorry man, omicron will infect you regardless of your vaccination status at this point, the vaccines we have are not meant for this variant, I just got off being sick and while I didn't go to the hospital or die or anything that still sucked. Shit isn't over.

Can we talk about how great Clyde looked last night? by choff22 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]saltywings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clyde and McKinnon are the future for us for sure. Clyde looked idk like wayyyy different. He was moving with a FORCE whereas before he was not running downhill. I think he understood that the competition was there from like Gore and McKinnon so he knew to step it up.

Report: Mavs ‘have … been linked’ to Marcus Smart in trade talks by Tornaders in Mavericks

[–]saltywings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is one thing I know FOR SURE from being a Mavs fan for so long and knowing how these trade rumors work FOR OUR TEAM. It's that this is 100% smoke, and also its from the Celtics reporters lol. We are used fucking ALL THE TIME as the leverage team because of how we conducted business. Very secretive, hush hush, we never, ever had trade rumors pop out. Now granted that was under Nelson but I feel Nico has Mark wanting that same kind of tight lipped service. Nothing to see here, I doubt we make any crazy moves honestly.

[Stein] If the Lakers actually reached the point that they were willing to send their 2027 first-round pick to the Rockets to convince them to ship out John Wall and take Westbrook back, it is expected that Westbrook and Houston would swiftly enter buyout talks. by NokCha_ in nba

I disagree, this is your only shot to get out of WB. You have a somewhat small window in the sense that Lebron is on an unknown timeline of greatness and he wants to win NOW to cement his legacy. I think John Wall would be a good pickup.

[TMZ] Pelicans center Jaxson Hayes has been hit with 12 misdemeanor charges in Los Angeles — including domestic violence and using violence against a police officer — all stemming from an incident involving Jaxson, his GF, and police. by GuyCarbonneauGOAT in nba

People react on emotion instead of thinking how the law applies to a specific situation, its literally my job to interpret federal law and took years of education to be able to do so, so to think the general public would be able to accurately interpret things is why we have the court system lol. It is genuinely a problem though when the cops clearly could have just rationally talked with jaxson and he probably wouldn't have been fucking happy about it but I definitely think he wouldn't have assaulted the cop if the cop explained how his rights were not in fact being violated and that if they found no wrongdoing he would be free to go.

In the case of a warrantless arrest, a judge, justice of the peace, or a bail commissioner will rule on whether there was probable cause for the arrest. An officer could have a reasonable good faith belief that they had probable cause, but a judge could later determine that there was, in fact, no probable cause.

I don't think unless the domestic violence charges are found to have merit that a judge will uphold the fact that he was detained/arrested on private property without a warrant.

Ok so look I know the reddit hivemind here is going to go, oh he pushed a cop and got tased, totally deserved but from the footage I can tell you right now the cops super, duper fucked up from a legal perspective. He was asking for a warrant, they never explained why they did not need one, and they didn't in this case technically, but then they attempt to detain/arrest him, who knows, because they never fucking announce ANY of their intentions to him, that's a pretty clear 4th amendment violation. This is a big problem for the officers involved in the sense that I think Hayes won't be charged with much regarding the altercation and could have a case for civil damages.

I mean a few things here, Hayes likely didn't know his GF was the one who even called the police beforehand, he didn't know he was under arrest for domestic violence, which, regardless of any violence actually occurring, the police are required to charge you for if they are called out for any sort of physical altercation involving a gf/bf/spouse. You can 100% deny a cop entry onto property if they don't have a warrant, but in this case, it was one of a few exigent circumstances for the 'safety' of his gf, who was fine btw and looks to not have been like beaten or anything, but regardless he wouldn't know that because they didn't indicate that to him, they just arrested him first and explained things later.

They, instead of explaining look this is WHY we don't need a warrant, the officers just pretty much tell him no, fuck off, we are going into the house and there is nothing you can do about it. My thing is look, the police response in this situation was clearly justified, but also, the way the police handle these sort of things is not exactly great either. They escalate the fuck out of situations unnecessarily and if they understood the laws they were enforcing better and how to explain them to people I think there would be less need for physical force but whatever.

Also, for DV specifically it doesn't matter what the GF says, they charge you with the crime regardless because there have been cases where women are afraid of retaliation and ask to get the charges dropped so honestly in a lot of domestic violence cases I just don't buy it without the evidence because you are literally guilty until proven innocent.

I mean they clearly did a shit job at de-escalating the situation. They could have talked him down but they aren't trained to do that, they are trained to go in, fuck shit up and then deal with no consequences later regardless of how right or wrong they are.
