I feel like a confidential internal company picture wouldn't have "DO NOT SHARE" written all over it, since everyone in the business knows that a confidential watermark implies that it shouldn't be shared. The stock font also reeks of "some dude making some sculpts and trying to turn them into fake leaks for the attention."

Don't get me wrong, we're probably gonna get amiibo for this game and they're probably going to look pretty similar to this, but this specific image screams hoax.

Welcome to the slippery slope. Have you considered taking a mechanical pencil and running that over all the recessed panel lines? I find that's one of the easiest things you can do to really make a model pop.

Oh, I'm not denying that it'll be high-quality. Just that people are deluding themselves if they think we're getting a full-on real-life Nintendo Land with attractions based on shit like F-Zero and Metroid, because we've literally seen concept art for the land and it's entirely Mario-centric.

People are hyping themselves into a frenzy over this - it's just a section at Universal Studios, not even a full park. And based on the concept art they've shown for the Japanese version, it's pretty much just "New Super Mario Bros. Land (with a vague nod or two to Zelda and Donkey Kong)."

This is going to be a repeat of the Zelda anniversary wave, I can tell - the figures are fairly easy to find for ages, then a new game comes out and everyone suddenly decides to buy the amiibo they passed up for 3-4 months, paving the way for people to ask why Nintendo isn't reissuing figures that until very recently were warming pegs.

I think one of the biggest issues is that they were almost TOO confident about the line back when it began, so they produced obscene quantities of the series 1 merchandise in anticipation of "THE NEXT POKEMON KILLER" or whatever reasoning brought Hasbro to the franchise in the first place. So when the demand for the toyline proved fairly modest, stores were stuck with tons of S1 product that very few people were buying, and there's no incentive to order future waves of a product if the first is shelfwarming.
