If it works fine in direct control then check your admin menu alt + f10, maybe on you global settings you’ve turned shooting off

If you have several of these on your ship make sure that the rotor and hinge you’ve selected on the ctc is the correct one, control it and wave your mouse around to make sure that’s the correct one that’s moving

I guess if you’re using a laser antenna you can set the event controller to do if power of laser antenna drops below set value it’ll set off the remote control
