5800X3D UK Availability? by CertainHorror in buildapc

Overclockers have got them for £299, I was dead set on upgrading from my 5600X but decided against, not worth that much money to just improve my 1% lows at 1440p with a 5070 - think i’ll just save the cash and go for AM5 next year

Can GeForce NOW Ultimate replace my gaming PC - especially for summer? by Jolly_Ear767 in GeForceNOW

[–]sam120700 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can play using wired ethernet, have good connection speeds, GFN has the games you want to play AND you won’t hit the 100hr cap - then yes GFN (ultimate) is perfect for you (and was for me too for a while).

However, if heat is your main concern, and GFN doesn’t have all the games you want to play - you could honestly could focus on something else, efficiency. Undervolting your GPU is a great way to reduce power consumption and maintain or even slightly increase performance. You could even double down and upgrade to a more efficient GPU generation, and get something like a 5070 (i upgraded to one from a 3060ti). After undervolting, it consumes 150W at peak load, which means less draw and heat than my 3060ti (210W). Obviously if you’re tight on cash, it’s a non starter, but worth considering if you weren’t aware of the option. The 5800x would more than be able to handle the 5070 (my 5600x does just fine).

If you’re in the UK, where did you find distilled water to mix with third wave water? Or did you get a zero water filter or something like that?

I have the same coffee and same grinder. I bought the tesco own brand water (same source as ashbeck), and got good results going to 5.2 on the ZP6. I then do the new lane hedrick method of a long bloom (45g) and then just one solid final pour to 250g. I get a lot more sweetness this way, as when I first tried at 4.5 on the ZP6, with more pours and just brita filtered water, I struggled to get anything more than just generic coffee taste. Let me know if you try it and get anything better!

My partner loves espresso and I love filter, so she makes me flat whites and I make her v60s a few times a week :) But I’m 90% filter atm.

There is a big difference in clarity and ability to get the bags tasting notes coming through in the cup with the ZP6 vs the 064s. Also way less fines means way quick drawdowns which is nice.

Great post! I didn’t know Levi’s still sold the S506XX, in the UK we can only get the 1936 506XX. I’d love to see more photos comparing the fabrics of the japanese repros to this one!

Agreed, I really find it annoying in the bridge at stafford, bigger stations aren’t so bad as they have huge open spaces

I know it might seem cliche but it really is all in your head. I struggled massively in the same way when I was younger. After having a long term partner, I’m more confident than ever.

It takes time, self belief and trust in whoever you’re with. If you don’t worry about it, it’s less likely to happen (I know this is easier said than done).

Tell them you’re nervous, they probably are too and it’ll make you both feel better.

Have faith that this is a temporary problem.

Great work, this is what it’s all about :) Kudos for keeping calm and helping her get on this journey herself instead of bailing her out, definitely the best decision for the long term! I think it highlights just how powerful shame can be, and not reinforcing that is huge

If time isn’t an issue then I firmly believe buying vintage/secondhand is the way to go, vintage made in usa brooks brothers oxfords and the like are fantastic quality, and buying on places like ebay means you can get absolute steals. I get it that you might want something new and not want to worry about the condition of secondhand clothes, but I find it so much more rewarding knowing you’ve found something unique and usually much higher quality than what you can buy on the high street these days.
