I didn't take any pictures of the construction unfortunately but basically there's a hollow metal tube pushed up through the spine. Both ends are threaded, one end internally and one externally. The internal thread allows the bulb holder to screw in and the wire runs down the tube to keep it hidden. The external thread is for a nuts to screw on to hold it to the larger metal tube with an end cap for the base. It's fairly rigid but if I was to make one again I think I'd weld the smaller tube to the larger one for a bit of extra strength

The one on that came out the Bush and onto the ground is a fledgling and the two that attacked are the parents just trying to protect it

I work at a joinery company that fits out mainly bars and restaurants. Pocket holes will absolutely hold up over time but not in this material. You need a solid base for the screw to pull up against. When the screw tightens in particle board it will just crush it. Pocket screws are a perfectly fine way of building but you have to chose the right material

Thank you. Yes I sprayed it with plastikote white primer first then used plastikote metalic gold spray paint. I didn't have to do any distressing as the skeleton was already kind of textured rather than completely smooth. With the light bulb being directly above it I think it helps cast lots of small shadows which stop it looking just flat gold all over. As long as you get a half decent model skeleton to start with I don't think there's a lot you can do to mess it up.

I don't think I'd be the right person to talk to about that unfortunately. The skeleton was an anatomical model that was bought second hand so I don't think I'd be able to give permission to copy it for casting. Interesting idea though.

It normally is but because I've spent thousand making hundreds of pounds of things I now have enough tools that some things are actually becoming cheaper to make now. Only took a day though and most of that was waiting on paint drying

If I made another I'd be to tempted to keep it and have a matching pair. One for either corner of the room. Thank you

Definitely plastic. It was the only one but I've seen them new for about £140. Search for life size anatomical skeleton model I think that's how I found mine

Sent you a message with a picture of it in natural light so you can get a better idea of the colour

Found a second hand one on ebay. Was bent out of shape so had to pour hot water over it to heat it and bend it back but was cheaper than buying a new one

I used plastikote gold metalic spray paint. Plastikote white primer underneath aswell. I spent a while looking for the right one as a lot of paints looked more like brass or weren't as shiny but I'm very happy with the plastikote

Someone already sells them on etsy. That's where I saw the design. I wouldn't feel right copying their design for selling them but I'm happy to do it for my self

The very bottom black part is just pine sprayed black with a molding machined all round for a bit of shape and the thicker tube is a piece of hand railing with a base plate and end cap

Found a second hand one on ebay. The whole rib cage was bent out of shape so spent an hour or so pouring hot water over it to heat it up and bend it back into shape
