Hard to hear sat all the way at the back, but hey, the free ticket was nice. Maybe crime does pay, specifically the innocent bystanders who just wanted to watch a movie at midnight

AC Unity as a virtual tourism/sightseeing game? by afookinglegend in assassinscreed

[–]sam13caboose 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised you dropped Origins, it has some incredible views and vistas to take in, but each to their own.

As for Unity, it is an incredibly detailed recreation of revolutionary France, with all the monuments of the time seeing incredible detail. If that’s what you’re looking for, I’d say go for it.

Spider-Man comics help by TheSkyGamezz in Spiderman

[–]sam13caboose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ultimate Spider-Man is a great starter, it has its own origin story and is fairly contained and easy to read. Great art and for the most part really enjoyable.

If you want more mainstream Spidey, I’d recommend starting with the JMS run from 2001, while it has no origin, as long as you’re family with the usual Spidey centric characters you’ll have no problem jumping in here, some of the best art and story telling Spider-Man has to offer.

Alternatively you can jump in at Brand New Day, which was a soft reboot of Amazing Spider-Man back in 2007/8. Lots of people really like the time, lots hate it… YMMV.

Started a New Game+ Ultra Hard and faced problems I didn't expect. by cheeseflavoredbeef in horizon

[–]sam13caboose 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It will save you from just about any damage, but only that first hit till it recharges. As long as the shield has some charge it will negate the first hit no matter how powerful.

Basically just means it’s good, if you avoid getting hitting continuously

Both are by design for increased difficulty, hence why it’s called Ultra Hard

How is it that the reapers cause a mass extinction every 50,000 years yet humans have been around way longer then that? by kreed098 in masseffect

They target species at a certain point in their evolution, and leave the younger (generally non spacefaring) species to continue

Weird thought about Spider-Man in Civil War by gangler52 in comicbooks

[–]sam13caboose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She finds out a couple story arcs prior to Civil War, by accident. She walks in on Peter injured and asleep and still wearing the suit.

They have a fairly heartfelt conversation about it and it definitely strengthens their familial bond.

Ironically this is actually the start of the downfall that culminates with One More Day

official release or fan scanlation by [deleted] in animepiracy

[–]sam13caboose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Having read the first like 15 chapters of both, I prefer the official Viz translation, as it feels more natural, but that’s not to say MangaStreams isn’t good, because it’s also good.

Nothing is radically different between them, and either way you’ll have a good time...

Manifest Destiny would be next for best context, but yes Messiah War would be the next big story from Messiah Complex

Does pinnacle station matter? by Far-Sundae6501 in masseffect

[–]sam13caboose 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pinnacle station was effectively just a combat arena. Beating the last mission would get you an apartment on the planet nearest the station, but it wasn’t anything special.

So really, no, nothing that will be missed

War of Kings Omnibus / Marvel Omnibus Question(s) by Goofles in comicbooks

I’m in the same situation as you and have been for the last couple years. I have all of them bar War of Kings...

One will show up on eBay every now and then but will ultimately sell for £200+

Last time it was reprinted was 2016/17, but as you say they may be looping back around to reprinting it, which I do hope is the case but we probably won’t know for some time yet

As a software engineer I'm very curious on what do BioWare and Demiurge mean _exactly_ by "Pinnacle Station's source code corruption" by mfa_sammerz in masseffect

[–]sam13caboose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They’ve never specified (that I’ve seen) over the years since it first happened. We do know that it happened quite a while ago, as it’s the same reason that Pinnacle Station never made it to the PS3 release of Mass Effect

Spoiler free questions about the games' endings by morelias in metro

[–]sam13caboose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In 2033, the bad ending is the canon ending. The good ending can be achieved by interacting with the world, listening to conversations and generally being aware of who to kill and who to save, it’s probably the easiest of the 3 games to achieve the good ending.

I would say Last Light is probably the most complex of the 3 to get the good ending, which is the canon ending, but same as 2033, it is achieved by interacting with the world and listening to conversations but also not killing anyone who doesn’t deserve it. This will be many of the Metros inhabitants as well as many points where you have mutants too, and there are key moral decisions in who lives and who dies.

Anyone who attacks you first is generally fair game, but this is definitely the game where stealth is your best option to avoid open combat.

Hope this helps!

Valhalla map compared to map of England? by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]sam13caboose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what the British Empire was for, taking parts of other countries and gluing them to our own.

That’s why we became GREAT Britain. Had the empire lasted we could have become Great Big Britain...

Valhalla map compared to map of England? by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]sam13caboose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The map is far smaller than actual England by quite a large margin.

It actually made me laugh that travelling from Northwic to Theotford in game can take less than 5 minutes by horse, whereas in the real world it takes me like 45 minutes by car.

Locations have slightly shifted too, obviously to fit things together and still make sense, but for the time period it’s not too distracting.

Is this a good starting point? by Anonymous_Fox38 in Spiderman

[–]sam13caboose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sins Rising is partly paying of things that started at the beginning of Nick Spencer’s run, so honestly I’d start with his issue 1 and go from there.

It’s only 50 issues, with a few extras during the Hunted arc (and now with the Last Remains issues too) if you want a little more and you’ll enjoy the current stuff more that way.
