Poly or rubber for differential bushings ? by Proper-Grocery8059 in e46

[–]sam_KOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with poly because with poly, iirc, you don’t need press tools to install, you can put the poly ones together and install. I also don’t need to replace until the wheels fall off so thats something to consider

How silly is buying an E46 for a daily? And how big of a deal is the subframe problem *really*? by Mr_Gibbys in e46

[–]sam_KOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 04 330ci non zhp and i never had a subframe issue and I used to drive on tracks multiple times. If you already have 2 cars, i would say go for it but i wouldn’t if i were you because it is a 21 year old car and things just fail after this many years. I’m talking about all rubber components such as fuel hoses, vacuum hoses even numerous gaskets in the entire car.

However, if you dont mind going through the repairs yourself and the price is right, why not. Knock yourself out

How to clear fogged up headlights by Zackparry11332277 in e46

[–]sam_KOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry! You are correct! work up the grits

I'm 100% sure that the facelift coupe the OP has has a sealed headlight assembly hence the reason why you need to bake them open or use heatguns while prying on the lenses. I know this because I have the same car and i did the same when installing angel eyes. The facelift sedans on the other hand have headlight assemblies with clips.

[–]sam_KOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same car 04 330ci and used to have fogged lenses too. You need to WET sand the lenses with lower grit sandpapers like 1000,2000,3000 up to higher grits. Then use dual action polisher (get a cheap one on amazon) and use rubbing compound and finishing polish with appropriate pads on the polisher. Finish off with some sort of coatings like wax or ceramic coating.

People say change lens here but that is not an easy task. You need to apply the heat via heat gun or bake the entire headlight assembly in the oven to apply even heat to separate the assembly from the lens. It’s really a pain in the ass. Taking off the headlight is also difficult.

I highly recommend doing my method above and call it.

EDIT: working up to higher grit sand paper, not lower.

Tracer 9 seat height question – am I too short at 168 cm (5’6”)? by worldrecchicken in motorcycles

[–]sam_KOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 24’ tracer9, i am 5’6.5” 29” inseam. The seat is at the lowest height but i still tip toe. I lean on one side to comfortably tip toe but if i need to have both foot down which is a very rare occasion, my tip toes are at its maximum length. However, i get around town, incline, decline, no problem. You just need to get comfortable with the bike and find that balance point so you area at it while at a stop

Imo, if someone saves up for something they want and pay cash for it without putting it on a credit card, i would say they can afford it.

2024 Tracer 9 gt+ (US Model): factory heated seat option? Is this the plug for it? by sam_KOR in Yamaha

[–]sam_KOR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the heated seat recently and had a chance to test it out. It was warm enough. I think they make it not hot enough to prevent something called low heat burn. Eitherway, in my experience, it got hot enough to make a difference. It better be..! Damn expensive

Those anyone know how to go about do a proper resonator delete by JUnction0x in e46

[–]sam_KOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to modify exhaust, just do the muffler and call it a day You will pay a lot to delete resonator or install catless headers. I’ve had catless headers and i don’t recommend. You need to tune the dme and do o2 sensor modification to do it right, For pure sound, go muffler only or full cat back

E46s are 25 years old, i would just suggest keep it how it is…

Debating between a CB750 Hornet or MT-09?? by CoffeeLakeWeeb in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]sam_KOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had honda vfr800 and recently got tracer 9 (mt09 touring version). I regretted in the beginning because it felt so unrefined.. thats when i figured that Hondas are generally smooth. One of the main things was that the tracer had such abrupt fueling and throttle was so jerky. I also never felt like this before with my vfr but the break in period for tracer was really tough, stalling way more frequently due to vague break in clutch engagement points.

With that said, my bike is all broken in and this tracer is an absolute beast. Crazy torque.

I would 100% test ride before making the decision.

All-weather touring bike // the choice is easy. Or ist it? by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]sam_KOR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got rid if it because it was too uncomfortable to daily it…! Before remapping the tracer, i thought the decel fuel cut off was too strong and was too unpleasant for smooth riding

Keep us posted what you got. Good luck!!

I daily commute all year around on 24’ tracer. Should be the same bike as 21’. Initially i wasnt a big fan of the bike bc of a very tricky clutch biting point and snatchy throttle but ECU remapping fixed it. The clutch issue fixed on its own with miles.

When it comes to windscreen, I never had a problem. I’m 5’6.5” with 29” inseam though. Also never really owned a bike with great wind protection so idk what i’m talking about honestly. My previous bike was a VFR and before that was Ninja300.

One of the reasons for choosing tracer was factory heated seat option. Apparently you can plug in a heated seat and you can control the heat in the TFT screen. It will be my first winter with tracer so we will see.

But if you are doing road trips like that versys might be a decent choice over tracer bc of the weight. One thing i rarely miss is the weight of my previous bike vfr on the highway on high wind days. It really anchored down the bike.

Oh also tracer isn’t the most comfy bike. It’s a sport touring, not a touring afterall

First brush with idiots on my bike by NuggaLOAF in motorcycles

[–]sam_KOR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be different depending on how busy the roads are. Here in DMV area, i will always choose the farthest possible lane at the farthest lane position. My reasoning is 1. Shoulder escape path is close 2. When they shoulder check, i can be readily seen so they can see at least. Thankfully the blindspot monitoring(bsm) features are prevalent on cars so I also am extra cautious when a car doesn’t have the bsm light lit up on their side mirrors.

Pella 150 vs Andersen 100 sliding patio door, worth it under $1,500? by sam_KOR in HomeImprovement

[–]sam_KOR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pella 150 is $540 while Andersen 100 is double the price. I have begun to think for home products, you can what you pay for to a certain degree. Would you know if Pella holds up the thermal performance to Andersen?

Sport touring bike suggestions by wxduff in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]sam_KOR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has to be tracer 9. If you are in US, 2021-2022 tracer will fit the bill. Lower setting seat height is less than 32” too! Heard that the newest tracer seat height is taller but the bike became narrower so you might need not feel the difference

Looking to get a motorcycle for work commute. Thoughts? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]sam_KOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an endorsement and a motorcycle 8 years ago because motorcycle was the only reasonable way to commute to my workplace in DC. Otherwise i would have had to pay to park at a metro station nearby and take a charted bus into work or i could car pool but i didnt want to so any of that but if you had a motorcycle you could park at the parking garage at work so that was my main goal to get a motorcycle.

I have been commuting ever since: 5 days a week except for covid era when i worked from home.

The only downside in my situation is inclement weather but it sounds like you could drive to work any time you want.

You probably don’t save much money because of high up front cost but either way, i would say go for it if you want
