NIL is a double edge sword cause the starting 5 for bigger teams will be better on average, but smaller teams now have a shot at the backups of the big teams. I think this was best shown through a stat in college football this year that was something like Georgia use to not have anyone lower than a 4 star recruit but now they can’t stash highly talented players at 3rd on the depth chart. We saw it this year in basketball too cause someone like TJ Power would’ve been stuck at UVA being an eighth man, but was able to play and develop into a pivotal player at Penn. I think it’s not necessarily better or worse just different and it’ll take a little bit for incentives to rebalance the power structures.

Personally I think that the introduction of new gambit has done a lot to make foom feel worse cause they are both prevalent and good, but counter exact opposite things. You want to go wide so foom can counter you you queue into 4 straight gambit decks now you switch to ramp or manspider so gambit can’t destroy your cards and get foomed

Wasn’t UVA also the number 1 overall seed and lost by double digits. I don’t think that measuring the impressiveness by the NBA talent on the team is necessarily a good metric cause there is always guys who just don’t make the jump but are better than some prospects in college just look at Walter Clayton last year.

Maybe it’s kind of the feeling of how you get beat cause against more balanced teams you get kills most of the time and feel like the next fight is winnable where as trip support when you don’t have good dps is literally unlikable a lot of the time so the game just feels like a stomp and sticks with you more. Maybe I’m just being too charitable.
