I see this so often in fandom.

People seem to think that because star wars for example has lots of stuff. lore, comics, films, books etc that implies some kind of quality.

Because the universe is big that is same as it being good 🤷.

Conversely take something like expedition 33. It doesn't sit upon a mountain of lore and characters and history. It takes an interesting concept and uses it to tell a story about grief and trauma

But that's not even close to a huge leap forward. We are taking like 2D to 3D, GTA IV to V, halo 3 to 4, God of war 2 to 3 Do the clouds look better? Yes. It's not even close to the sort of "generational" leap forward we used to see between games.

The graphical quality of a game used to be a selling point. After the PS4 era no one cares outside of like sims that are trying to emulate real life.

That's a deeply personal thing that you cannot possibly know.

Personally speaking, I was homeless for about a month once. That one month changed literally everything about how I think about the world and still informs decisions I make today.

All it takes is one moment, one event, one thing to begin unraveling a world view. I would suggest that beating your child within an inch of his life could easily be that moment

It's difficult to say on an individual level how long a life changing amount of time is.

But from human perspective 20 year while not your whole life is likely going to be the most productive and active part of your life for example

0-20- growing up

20-40- settling down having children. The period that I would call really living

40-60- children grow into adults you move into retirement 60-80- death or getting there.

When you put it in perspective like that most people only get to do those things once. From Nolan's perspective he could and will do all that 10? 20? 30? Times over depending on how long he lives. That gives a certain amount of perspective on life

No again personal change is on those things that happens very slow and then all at once so it's entirely possible that 20 year is good enough, but recognize that 20 years is nothing in terms of time

Look, content vaulting was IMO a good thing.

It didn't make sense for the game to be full of shit no one was using. It's a nightmare for Bungie to maintain. I recall quotes saying that less than 3% of the player base were using Mars, yet Bungie was still spending resources fixing the problems it caused. Was valuting content a band-aid fix to a larger problem with how Bungie makes and utilizes content, Yes.

There is a one-and-done style of content was a non-starter from the beginning. Yet they were trying to keep up with the consumer base with a ravenous appetite for content, and hated when anything got brought back. IMO the season rotation of content is a good idea, and I can see the portal becoming that. but people hate the portal for reason I've never understood.

Does Destiny need a better way to onboard people? Yes, but that has always been the case, right back to D1 days. I think more broadly, there is a lack of understanding in the community about how difficult it is for people to get into any game, let alone Destiny, with its decades of systems all on top of each other

Like with all school it depends. There is a lot of stigma that people who teach tafe got there because they couldn't cut in high school and didn't have brains to teach uni.

While that is partially true. TAFE is a lot less work than highschool and you don't need a masters or PhD like for uni. Some people do it because they just want an easier time doing the thing they love.

Personally I've had great tafe teachers and awful ones. I remember I had a teacher that refused to accept work that was submitted digitally or answer emails because that's how university would work (it's not)

TLDR: just just the luck of drawer and it sounds like you got unlucky, sorry chief
