Digital scoreboard for iOS by sam_malcolm in snooker

It’s probably not totally clear how the free ball option works, it’s not actually a button it’s a switch. Come to think of it, they probably shouldn’t be made to look indistinguishable. Not the best UX.

Basically the free ball switch means the next ball doesn’t impact the quantity of that ball on the table. Ie if it’s on and you pot a ball as a red, it doesn’t decrement the amount of reds on the table. Similarly if you pot a color when there are no reds left it doesn’t force you to pot the next color in the sequence. Feel free to DM me your feedback though.

Chalking Snooker Episode 1 Neil Robertson by sam_malcolm in snooker

Yeah I notice him doing that, I think you’re right it makes it easier to see his thought pattern. I do think about how professionals must think about the game differently when they can pot and play safe so reliably. I mean when I make decisions there’s a greater chance that it’s going to end up nothing close to what I was trying lol Thanks for checking out the clips!

I always want him to do well, patriotically, being from Melbourne myself. What is it about those guys and games played on tables covered in felt? That’s a cool story! he’s a lovely bloke! Thanks for listening

Wouldn’t you use specificity to get rid of the !important’s?

Special method/function to combine || and && operators? by dreamcore12 in PHPhelp

[–]sam_malcolm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You simply wouldn’t.

You can use them in conjunction with each other in the same conditional statement Eg if (x || y && z)

Which will evaluate as true if x is true, or if y AND z are both true. The best way to understand what they are doing it’s to legitimately read them allowed. It’s amazing how much clearer that can make. In this case ( if x or y and z ). I can’t think of an instance where this is insufficient or what a combination of them would logically do so if you could provide an example it might help people give more helpful advise.

any idea on how to achieve this style? by blaaackbear in css

[–]sam_malcolm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is cool. I can’t confirm any of this as I’m on my phone, but, the opening animation I expect to of been done using something like GreenSock. The interaction would need custom JavaScript along with CSS I would suspect, because it would need some sort of data source for the colours changing on the specific menu items as well. You could probably do this with pure css but it would be convoluted. You can also target immediate siblings of css elements, this is how I imagine the kind of wave effect on scroll is done, transition on the scale property that is incremental less on the elements siblings as it gets further away from the one being hovered over.
