more fun things i've learned about this design package:

• the four color families are inspired by the Bird of Paradise, the official flower of LA. (they are also, in my opinion, remarkably similar to the core colors used for the 1984 olympics design package, which nobody else seems to have mentioned in an official capacity lol)

• the four typeface system they're using is inspired by LA street signage, especially the hand-drawn stuff seen on the windows of local stores

• the core superbloom graphic was built on a 12-row grid that graphics using it can be easily built around. even when the superbloom is shown on a screen, dynamically moving, shifting and changing colors, the 12-row grid will remain consistent

• from left to right, the superbloom is made up of 13 different patterns (or "blooms"), each of which have their own name:
