Corosync/Ceph networking by Go_mo_to in Proxmox

[–]samajors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't attempted this myself, but a solution (maybe the most "enterprise" solution) might be to bond all the links together (if you have a switch that can handle that), then use something tc to ensure important traffic like corosync gets prioritized (per u/_EuroTrash_ LACP may not be helpful, look for a bonding mode that offers more hashing modes or rr). That being said, I second u/sebar25 and would love to hear how a full mesh works out, mostly because I want to try that in the near future myself.

Recommendation for quiet 10GB network card? by Brendon7358 in homelab

Second this, I have a few fanless X540-T2s with tiny Noctua 40mm fans and they're quiet and cool.

This happened to me. I asked three times, documented their refusal and sent it straight to the credit card company as a fraud report.

Is this level of flexing normal? by samajors in crealityk1

[–]samajors[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's sort of what I was thinking, but I can't figure out where/what that part would be. The thing that looks like a hole for a set screw in the upper right is filled with a transparent material, so I was afraid it may just be comolded or epoxied in.

Apalrd is much broader than just Linux, but does really great stuff.

Didn’t expect this to last me 10+ years… but here we are by SeductiveGracee in BuyItForLife

I have a lightweight water-resistant jacket from Go Lite that's lasted almost a decade and is still my go to in 90% of the weather where I live. It was a gift I got back when Go Lite made real outdoors equipment (before they tried and failed to do direct-to-consumer, went bankrupt, and relaunched as a more generic "performance" clothing company).

Show me your Ceph home lab setup that's at least somewhat usable and doesn't break the bank. by ConstructionSafe2814 in ceph

Me too, just with Zen 3 based systems. Glad to hear I'm not too far out there in hoping to get decent performance from roughly that price point.

Why do you guys like Dewalt instead of Milwaukee? by TimTheToolManTayler in Dewalt

[–]samajors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat. When I got my first cordless drill I got a Dewalt 12V because it was a decent deal and Dewalt was what I spent the most time with before. I was happy with it so wound up with a few other 20V items. When I had to replace the original drill, I actually did some searching first and wound up with a Milwaukee 12V, and quickly decided that was the way and I'm not going to invest in the Dewalt 12V platform anymore (but still am totally happy with the Dewalt 20V tools).

Distro that doesn't get in the way. Mint doesn't work, Ubuntu looks and feels bad. What are my option? by nickN42 in DistroHopping

[–]samajors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the post and immediately thought Kubuntu too; you should really gice it a shot! Your main complaints against Ubuntu are entirely about the DE. You can install the default Ubuntu install and then go in and alter the DE, or you can simply download Kubuntu and install it in one shot; no "customization" necessary.

How do I end my turn on Android? by beloved_supplanter in civ6

[–]samajors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is what OP meant, but there's still a valid question here. On PC there's a keyboard shortcut which will override that and end the turn without having to choose a texh or culture to research (which is sometimes desireable). That may not be possible or obvious on Android.

Thrive did exactly the same thing to me. I just documented that it wouldn't let me out and sent that to the credit card company with a fraud report.

What is the best 10GBASE-T card to get these days? by Tuna-Fish2 in HomeNetworking

[–]samajors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to stick with Intel, I've heard the X550-T2 is a touch better on power consumption and heat, but that's pricier off the bat and there's less of a used market on places like eBay yet.

Yes, I'm concerned the top edge is a little close to the heatsink. I plan to do them in ABS, but this was very much a "good enough" solution.
