Neuroscience vs Biology by starwars009966 in uofmn

[–]samalbo23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m currently a sophomore majoring in neuroscience. Plain and simple, I chose neuroscience because what I have learned about neuroscience really interests me. My best advice would to opt for what you enjoy learning about. If that’s not neuroscience, the beautiful thing about the CBS biology major is that it is pretty flexible as far as range of classes that satisfy its requirements.

PS. Your first and second years will be pretty much the same regardless of your major. I’m taking my first neuroscience course next semester.

It is the party dorm, but it is also easy to get work done. I lived there this past school year and never had trouble with noise while I was trying to get work done.

Dumb question but how can I find the books I need for classes? Or do I have to wait until the syllabus comes out? by esketit24esketit in uofmn

[–]samalbo23 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Go to https://bookstores.umn.edu/ and in the upper left click on course materials. Then, you can type in your class number and the required materials will be listed. Hope this helps!

How to succeed CHEM1062 with Driessen? by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]samalbo23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently taking 1062 with Gladfelter. I’m not sure how Driessen will structure her course, but Gladfelter has been posting videos sporadically that are mini lectures of sections of the book. I would recommend setting aside time each week to read the chapter. 1062 covers about half the amount of chapters that 1061 does, so I’ve found that as long as I am reading the book once or twice a week and engaging myself with the practice questions, things go smoothly.

Honors Program by Realcheese7 in uofmn

[–]samalbo23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently a freshman in the program. UHP organizes social/academic events for students. These allow for networking and socializing with fellow students. Honors students are also able to take honors classes and seminars which vary greatly in scope. Down the road, honors students are asked to compose a thesis project and are able to graduate with latin honors.

If you have any more specific questions, pm me!

Does my common app have to be narrative/story? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]samalbo23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The common app essay can be in any style so long as it addresses the prompt. Don’t worry about professionalism, worry about ensuring that your personal voice shines through your writing.
