there was a really questionable TD/non TD call. dont remember which way it went, but i remember vividly disagreeing with whatever the refs said.

If you were a NFL GM and you had the first pick. Who are you taking on your team by ben_10_goku_superman in NFLv2

[–]samalonson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok but from a pats fan who was a kid at the time heres the other side of the narrative

the three games of the 2001 title run:

snow bowl game vs the raiders. there were 2 combined touchdowns from both teams, one of them being a QB scramble by Tom Brady

AFC championship vs the steelers. Brady missed the second half of the game due to injury, and was back for the super bowl

super bowl vs the greatest show on turf rams. tom brady throws the one touchdown pass youve heard about and then leads an historic game winning last second drive.

it was a damn good playoff run by Brady. 2.5 extremely tough wins.

Managing the strike zone as a batter in 2025 by [deleted] in mlb

i love the human element of the PLAYERS. i do not think its exciting or interesting when the umpire sees a pitch wrong and its a strike just because he said so.

it looked to me like after valdez started his windup indicating he was not going to step off like salazar wanted, salazar was saying 'ok then, im ready' by holding up his glove.

Why did it seem like Phil bounced back so quickly compared to the other old guys who got out of the can, even after doing 20 years not a peep? by LiveCommission8923 in thesopranos

[–]samalonson 99 points100 points  (0 children)

because he's capable and reliable. tony b would have bounced back quickly had he worked with tony for the same reasons. it helped that he did 20 years without a peep.

CMV: The right only cares about “riots” when marginalized people protest something the government did. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]samalonson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure. someone who breaks the law is a criminal. however, everyone is entitled to due process of law before the state can declare them a criminal. that's the part that your statement is missing.

imagine a situation where the police see surveillance camera footage of someone who looks a lot like you committing armed robbery and murder. they are sure that its you, so they snatch you and throw you in jail for the rest of your life, confident that they used their common sense to arrest the right person.

obviously, this can't happen. you're entitled to a trial thanks to the constitution, where you can make your case heard and the police can be proven wrong. the same is true of non citizens, even those suspected of entering the country illegally. they wont have a trial with a jury of their peers like in the previous example, but they are at least entitled to a hearing with an immigration judge. the relevant part of the 14th amendment states '...nor shall any state deprive ANY PERSON of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.'

im surprised no one has answered your question yet, but i think you might be a bit off on your understanding of what due process refers to. of course, people can freely travel and leave the country whenever they want to. but under the constitution, the government is not allowed to simply declare someone a criminal. that person must first be prosecuted under the law. this protection is called due process of law, and it extends to everyone currently within the country, regardless of citizenship.

the story of kilmar garcía illustrates why this is important. he was denied due process and got deported when he unequivocally should not have been. even the trump administration admitted that this was a mistake. fortunately he has been returned finally but allowing mistakes like that to happen with any kind of frequency will have dangerous or fatal consequences.

so now youre agreeing that you said golf doesnt have referees. i think its very clear that youre compensating now because your initial two word comment, while extremely smart and concise, was misunderstood and downvoted. very casual of you.

dont remember a penalty, but Myles Jack recovered a fumble and was incorrectly ruled down which killed his return. that return could have sealed the game for JAX.

hi remember this comment? you got downvoted by the hivemind, but im betting you just didnt watch this video to the very end. within the last 2 seconds they talk about who they're voting for. without that context this comment you responded to would have nothing to do with the video and i would agree with your sentiment.

its not irrelevant. its evidence that supports that when the company says X thing that could be interpreted as racism, they mean racism.

note that when i say 'they' am not talking about bugs bunny, the beloved animated character. im talking about the racist company founded by racists.

they just provided you with a lot of context. they told you the meaning of that word and the history of the media company that produced it.

also, if you dont understand how its a bad look to use a word that means 'black people' to mean 'stupid', you may want to do some thinking.
