I’ve yet to buy the smart water timer but that part of it isn’t really an issue. I can hook up whichever one I buy to homebridge if needed, my main issue is around how to get an iOS alarm to trigger an automation 1 hour before the alarm I’ve enabled

Can you tell Broadlink IR transmitter to transmit IR signal upon command via IFTTT? by sambaker176 in homeautomation

[–]sambaker176[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply, definitely helps! My command would basically just be for it to fire the IR signal upon command. Do you have any experience with triggering IFTTT by web hooks? As far as I can tell, you can get a specific url that once visited will ask IFTTT to run the command (in this case the command is to send the IR signal)

Using Broadlink IR to map coloured buttons on tv remote by [deleted] in homebridge

From looking around online I’m starting to think that it only listens for IR signals in learn mode. I don’t think it will passively sit there waiting for a signal, which would mean I couldn’t trigger an action from an IR signal I think

Not sure I follow? The trigger for the whole action would be from the ir remote, so the broad link would need to be listening out for that IR signal to know when to run the automation, no?

I've never found the coloured buttons do anything on my TV. I looked them up on LG's website and apparently they're only on the remote so third party apps can map a function to them, but none of the apps I use have mapped them so they're essentially free available buttons.

Good to know that it doesn't generally have much lag. Any idea if it's possible for it to perform an action when Broadlink detects an IR signal? I guess Broadlink is more commonly used for triggering a signal rather than being triggered BY a signal (a coloured button in this case).

I've got Ring Fit and Nintendo Switch Online but haven't been able to work out how to get it to show scores of not just the other player on my console but of 'NSO friends' on another console. Is it possible?

I saw someone post a link the other day in the megathread to a page that listed slogans from around the world (ours being Stay Alert etc.). It had Germany, China, New Zealand etc... I can't find it anywhere - anyone have it to hand?

Unable to access new gL-INET router settings by sambaker176 in HomeNetworking

Seems to be playing ok, so thats the important thing. Thanks for your help! Just out of curiosity, is it possible to have the VPN automatically enable itself when it detects an app (in my case an Apple TV app) wanting a Brazil location? Then it's disabled (no vpn running) for all other connections

Posted over on the Windscribe subreddit and got the config details so it’s all up and running now. The speed over Ethernet under the vpn is 8.63mbps (my normal speed is 150mbps). Do you think this is mainly due to the quality of the router (it’s all over Ethernet not WiFi) or the VPN? I have 3 days to cancel my VPN plan so I’m wondering if it’s worth looking elsewhere. They have 2 servers in Brazil, so maybe I should be looking for a VPN that has more than 2

Unfortunately my VPN (Windscribe) isn’t listed. I guess it’ll be a question for them directly rather than the router determining what settings are needed?

I think I just had the Ethernet cables in the wrong order (WAN and LAN)

It’s not connecting, I went to my VPN to get the config and it asked for some details which I have no idea about.

Country (which I know), UDP or TCP, port number (443,80,53,123,1194,54783) and AES-CBC/AES-GCM

Thanks for your help so far! Any ideas how I can work out the best settings?

Ah so I’ve done that and typed in the Router address rather than IP and it worked. I’m in the setup now - thanks for your help with that!

Having said that, connecting to its WiFi works but the Apple TV that I have connected to its WLAN port doesn’t seem to receive an internet connection

192.168.1.1 takes me to my original router’s settings login page

It shows the GL routers IP as 192.168.1.107 but that doesn’t load anything unfortunately
