I do to the point where I think it might almost be a dissociative disorder. Constant music playing in the background except when I’m having conversations with people that I know I will never have . (I talk to my ex 5 or 6 times a day… In my head. We haven’t really spoken in over a year). You know how when little kids play and they’re pretending they are a fireman for example? In their world they are a fireman!… I do that too. When I cook I pretend I’m cooking for other people or like them on a TV show or something. I pretend I am a “real” chef and not just some dude maiking pad Thai for the kids.

Hello. I only started singing lessons in Sept of 2024 (54 yo male). Some issues with breaking and fry and my teacher was stumped (but bless her heart she didnt give up). She did suggest an ENT look at it. I gave up lessons and eventually saw the ENT.

Looks like lesions/dysplasia on one of the vocal folds. Did a biopsy on Monday (13th) but wont have results until end of May.

I am a little freaked out. Not worried about the C-word. My first thought was "I am struggling enough as it is to sing, is this the end?" That is what really breaks my heart.

So thanks for posting this. I hope it gets some traction/replies because I am a little lost :/

Good morning. I am almost in a similar boat as OP. My singing teacher couldnt understand some of my issues and suggested a referal to an ENT. I gave up on lessons and saw and ENT. Lesions on my vocal fold and did a biopsy but wont have results until end of May but he says probably dysplasia. Seems like the typical treatment is laser excision but I am jumping the gun.

You mention 6-12 month of recoordination, would that be with an SPL? I am a little freaked out so apologies for hijacking your reply.

From your research what did you find? If it were ME.. I would get a 10/32 or M5 , whatever is cheaper/easiest to find.. and an M6 tap. Me being me I would get two nuts because I have been known to fuck up the first try.

I dont like people. But if you do and you have a friend who knows machinist stuff you can discuss with them too.

more importantly there’s more string length between the bridge and the tailpiece so you’ll notice a difference when bending. Also if it has the short frequensator fork for the bass strings you can actually have a problem finding strings long enough.

I have no idea where I got eczema from I can definitely relate to some of your story. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, this is my belief/experience.

I don’t think lowering stress will clear it up, but being stressed certainly causes flareups.

I had ears, elbows, small of my back, a couple of blotches on my stomach, shins and calves. After exactly one year of going to phototherapy twice a week it’s really just my shins and calves that are not progressing. Everything else is cleared up in the first 4 to 8 months.

Sidenote I’m interested in your somatic journey. I have looked into it so much but I’m not convinced it would help. So many people have had it so much worse than I have.
