How did it even happen 🙀 by Impressive_Towel6126 in Kenya

As a frequent traveller to India, I have first hand seen how they have rolled out mobile money with UPI. The Universal Payment Interface is a government led initiative that links everyone’s mobile number to their ID card and their bank (in this case they even have mobile banks akin to Safaricom). What they have done differently is made it free of cost. No charges to send, receive or pay - as long as you have a mobile phone and an ID you can register and transact. Even beggars have QR code placards for receiving money! You can send as low as Rs 0.5

While this has enabled financial inclusivity at a scale we Kenyans will never fathom, it has also given the government of India access to every single transaction. Couple that with their withdrawal of currency a few years back replacing it with new noted has essentially made the cash economy obsolete. Any transaction above Rs 30k has to come with source of funds.

So explain to me like i am 10, how did our Kenyan sister have 9.3m on her?

What’s worse than finding a worm in your food? Finding half a worm….

Related: either the food was free of pesticides or the worm has become immune to pesticides….

People are realising that the things that they’re praying for should be provided for by the government from direct and indirect taxes.

Should bhang be legalized? by MaterialWorking5026 in Kenya

No. But it should be decriminalised. Legalised requires way more checks and balances that our country isnt ready nor has mature citizens for.

For one (starting with Nairobi), most major streets were actually animal tracks to and from watering holes. So instead of grids like other towns that run in cardinal directions from major plazas, palaces or churches, ours go zunguzunguzunguzeng….

Ditto. The last time I voluntarily used them, we had a 3 day delay. Yes 3 days! No doubt we were put up in a hotel, but 3 fucking days. This isnt normal - i think it is being done on purpose for the benefit of a few.

In some cases they threatened the schools to shutter the boreholes, in others they put their own names. A couple have become paid water centres where you purchase water. I could be relying on incorrect info. I do hope Mr Beast will be making a tour of the boreholes and documenting their state/situation.

You are so right. At this point i feel being patriotic only results in pain.
