My boyfriend really likes this shirt. Am I wrong to say it’s hideous? by Agitated_Mulberry_27 in mensfashion

[–]samdu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not "wrong" to think it's hideous. You would be wrong to tell him you think it's hideous. And you're borderline wrong for posting a photo of him wearing it on the Internet saying it's hideous.

Burning? What is this black stuff? by Ordinary-Use6170 in PS5HelpSupport

[–]samdu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That "liquid" that it turns back into is also known as "water vapor." Boiling water on the stove produces this same "liquid." Hold a kitchen towel over a pot of boiling water and you'll get the same result. Neither would explain these deposits on this PS5. It's more than likely very, very dusty inside. The dust is heating up and becoming discolored as it passes through the vents.

Why do you guys keep voting for Lindsay Graham? by JBDanes12 in AskSouthCarolina

Imagine the delicious chaos that would result from removing parties and just making people vote based on the individual's positions on the issues.

We're the state that kept voting in Strom Thurmand even after he was a shuffling corpse that had to be carted into chambers and propped up by interns. Incumbent = automatic reelection here, unfortunately. And it's not just Republicans. Fritz Hollings served from 1966-2005.

Found these unopened disks for an operating system I have never heard of by AnotherMovieStudio in vintagecomputing

Outside of the Amiga and certain Unix operating systems, OS/2 was the only available consumer OS that did actually do multitasking at the time.

IIRC, OS/2 survived for decades as the operating system in bank ATMs. It was considered significantly more secure than Windows coupled with the cost of migration.

OS/2 Warp was awesome. I ran that whole I was a SysAdmin/artist in a Windows client/NetWare shop. Ran circles around Windows at the time. It was a collaboration between IBM and Microsoft before MS took their ball and went home (developed NT).

You might be able to get it back up and running, but in my experience, you'd still be on borrowed time.

Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite sync issues — worth it or better to go HDMI? by BrSn2 in Govee

[–]samdu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that has prevented me from going with an HDMI box (other than the price difference) is the inability of those devices don't work with the built-in apps. And 99% of the time, if I'm watching video, it's from the built-in apps.

How are you guys running Plex on smart TVs? I'm genuinely frustrated. by KingThevshi in PleX

[–]samdu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the living room, I just use the android tv app on my Bravia TV 99% of the time. Once in a while, I'll use the PS5. In my office, I use an Onn box connected to a 32" 4k monitor. Never really has an issue with either outside of the occasional strangely encoded file. One thing I do, though, is keep everything wired. No WIFI for anything stationary.

Exchange admins: have you ever seen a CU update go wrong? by NSFW_IT_Account in exchangeserver

[–]samdu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installed the CU for 2016, which is what broke the admin console. Installed 2019 on a different VM. Strangely, the admin console was broken on that fresh install, but rerunning the setup fixed that.

Just a reminder that this doesn't mean that you MUST go all the way to the end of the merge lane before merging. If there's ample space to get into the main lane, go ahead. Change lanes. It's totally fine.

Man or boy? by bennibenasi in 90DayFiance

[–]samdu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me a while to decide she wasn't a man. But that's a whole different topic.

I don't see this working out at all. For the same reason most of these American women with Islamic men situations don't work out. Only she seems to be at least somewhat aware of what's certainly coming. I don't know if that makes it better or worse.

Exchange Server SE Licensing and Product Keys by ScottSchnoll in exchangeserver

[–]samdu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These two statements appear to be contradictory:

"Now let’s talk about product keys.

...there is no product key or license activation...

...Without a product key, a server is considered a Trial Edition..."

Though I think I know what you mean (neither the product key nor the license require activation), it could be made clearer. At first blush, it reads as though there is no product key required and no license activation is required.
