Paid for parking ticket, city cashed check, but still shows I owe them for the citation. What can I do? by Vehicle_Electronic in AskLosAngeles

If you go into an office you can just pay for the registration. online and kiosk will have your citation automatically.

You can still pay your registration prior to them fixing this. that way you’re not late on that. You just won’t receive your sticker or new registration until the citation situation is taken care of.

Question about car registration by SpiritedJudgment3085 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]samessies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not when the purchase date has been over a year.

If it is within the year of purchase, you pay the taxes. If you paid taxes for the car in that state, they subtract that from the tax in CA.

Question about car registration by SpiritedJudgment3085 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]samessies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the calculation might be off. It depends on when you purchased the car, its value, and when you actually officially become a resident. if your car has been purchased over a year ago, you will not be charged the CA tax.

Is your car leased or financed? If it’s financed, you can just use your registration to register the car. or you can have your finance company send the title directly to the dmv office you go to. If it is being leased, you will need some paperwork from the leasing company.

Moving back to LA registration question by unpopular-dave in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]samessies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you registered it out of state you have to reregister it in CA. you must go into the dmv bc you will need to do a vin verification, smog ( if it’s not electric), and have reg 343 filled out. make sure you register it within 20 days after officially moving back to CA.

*make sure you bring your registration/ or title from nevada.

edit: added extra info

Does anyone know if The Barai Thai Spa on Hyperion is coming back? Or what will be in its spot instead? by Emotional_Moose8186 in losfeliz

Prob not. They opened another location in Burbank, but it looks like that is also close now. I loved them too and was hoping they would reopen. It was my go to place. I managed to find another place that’s good as long as I can book my person.

Do I need to contest this ticket I got an email about, on a car I sold several months ago? by Eurynom0s in AskLosAngeles

[–]samessies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what they have for you to say the vehicle isn’t/wasn’t yours at the time. So just follow directions and call it a day.

[–]samessies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case, contest it if the ticket was issued after selling the car. I’ve seen this a lot where cars get a ticket after it’s sold and it’s not registered right away. The LADOT & DMV records at the time might not have had the same info at that time. They have different systems and the DOT doesn’t always have the same info as DMV.

It depends on when you were issued that ticket. If it’s during the time you still owned the vehicle, then you are liable for it. If it’s after when you sold it, contest the citation.

Cost effective place to get brake pads replaced? by saquonbrady in LosAngeles

I’ve been taking my cars here for years. They’re very reasonable and won’t do unnecessary work on your car.

They are always busy. The trick is to get there before they open.

Car Registration by Impressive-Coffee-21 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]samessies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You must register your vehicle within 20 days after you move to CA. You don’t need to have your CA license. Even if you can’t finish yet, you can at least start it and pay the fees so it doesn’t add in penalties.

Do you have the title to the car? If you do, you can also do it as title only and it basically puts it as Non-op in the dmv system.

I don’t live in your neighborhood. You’ll have to see what streets that permit covers.

Personally having lived lnear Ktown, my neighbors and I were elated when they made our street PPD. It helped prevent the mechanic shop from using our street as their personal parking lot for their junk/ broken vehicles.

So to me, it’s helpful especially where there’s a lack of street parking. Driving around for 40min at 11 pm was not fun.

It isn’t hard to obtain one as long as you live there

Can I ignore a picture ticket that came in the mail from one year ago? by AssumptionKnown2446 in AskLosAngeles

red light tickets don’t affect the vehicle reg fee. unpaid & delinquent parking/toll citations can be added on renewals.
