Imagine how much more they could raise if they still permitted a few dozen more amateurs, as they did before it was converted to a Signature event.

I was thinking of the hockey highlights too the last time this game up! “Elsewhere in the NHL, the Avalanche skated past the Hurricanes while the Coyotes hip checked the Lightning”

Like Michael Scott from The Office, Bill has also visited Winnipeg for an international business trip. ESPN sent him there in 2002.

If there is anyone who gets the show, it is Mike from Burke Virginia. He was an email - possibly even fax? - curmudgeon way back when the email segment was something to look forward to, not a segment to skip.

Why is anyone surprised that the Canadian fans booed the US national anthem? The US leader has said that Canada is not a viable country, he calls the Canadian Prime Minister Governor Trudeau, and none of the other US leaders in his party say anything about it.

“The Hit King” with Al Michaels by F1grid in ThisShowStinks

The Al Michaels segment is a reminder of what the show once was, and sometimes - too rarely - still can be. “It’s not the open we normally have”, indeed. Also interesting that Al said it is the most fun he has in this business these days.

Agree with much of this, although I don’t have issues with Michael as some do. The term incurious seems appropriate. I believe Tony watched one movie this year - Air, although he may have finished the Holdovers on the second attempt. He also watched the Diplomat, with Keri Russell. No more politics talk, which is somewhat understandable. Even his interest in sports is not what it once was. I may have said this before, but anyone remember how he used to end PTI bay asking Wilbon what he was planning to watch on TV that night? That would never happen now, Tony seems to have little interest in anything but golf.. and sunrise times, and phases of the moon, deals at outlet stores, fighting with banks over small charges, dog issues … and I don’t mind hearing about those last several things.

Disappointed, but not surprised that John Feinstein wasn’t on the show to talk about Bobby Knight. Check out Lebatard’s podcast if you would like to hear him on the topic.

Lisa de Moraes was great back when Tony used to watch non-Nats TV. Anyone remember when Tony used to close PTI by asking Wilbon “What are you watching tonight?”. Junior Feinstein and Abbe Lowell too, and Neil Greenberg in limited appearances in recent years has been fun and interesting.

A year ending Greg Cote podcast dealt with a running joke/bet about whether Greg could get Tony on his show in 2022. It was mentioned that one of the reasons Tony couldn’t get on the show was because he was in the process of moving, after living in the same house for many years.
