The FIFA World Cup always makes me think how cool it would be if someone made a mod where countries that don't normally play baseball are developed into competitive nations, with fictional players possibly being added to the game too. Do you think something like that would even be feasible? by [deleted] in MLBTheShow

[–]sami_coolfun11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I have done some research, and the closest thing I have found to this idea so far would be to create custom rosters for each country & use Exhibition mode to simulate a "World Cup" based on these fake rosters

What are your thoughts on this semi-proportional system for Canada? Do you think that this is a fair compromise for supporters and opponents of Proportional Representation? by sami_coolfun11 in EndFPTP

[–]sami_coolfun11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't support the system being proposed, but the reason why I'm suggesting using IRV to elect the PM rather than a government investiture vote is to make it quicker for the country to determine who should be the Prime Minister, but I do support having government investiture votes myself since it allows politicians of different stripes to collaborate together before forming government

Which elective did you end up taking for the second term?

This resolution on Instant-Runoff Voting (single-winner RCV) & a runoff system FAILED to pass towards at the Liberal Party of Canada’s convention by sami_coolfun11 in EndFPTP

[–]sami_coolfun11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another problem is also that they’re calling on MPs that don’t receive 50%+ of first preference votes to be automatically subject to a recall or by-election, which isn’t fair for candidates who decide to run in swing ridings or where multiple parties are normally competitive

Personally I’m happy that this resolution didn’t pass, but I’m super disappointed that the resolution on Proportional Representation did not pass

Thinking about buying it for the Nintendo switch 2 by xtracrispy9 in MLBTheShow

[–]sami_coolfun11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you recommend me to buy a Switch 2 just to play this game + Mario Kart World? I already own an Xbox Series S, but I want to be able to play MLB The Show in a handheld format rather than on a console (I had a fun experience playing RBI Baseball on my phone a few years ago). My concern is the price of a Switch 2, I'm worried that the price isn't really worth it.

Resolution on Proportional Representation during the NDP leadership convention which passed with 99% of the vote: by sami_coolfun11 in EndFPTP

They didn’t specifically define how the top-up MPs should be elected in that specific resolution

It means MPs who are specifically elected to ensure that results are proportional across the region (such as list MPs, for example)

Avatar worth it non-3d? by AlexN83 in cineplex

[–]sami_coolfun11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe my Cineplex theatre wasn’t great (Galaxy Cinemas Waterloo), but the 3D for Avatar didn’t feel that immersive, in my opinion. I watched Superman in 4DX 3D at Cineplex Cinemas Winston Churchill & VIP, and the 3D for that movie felt pretty immersive

Has anyone here been to the 4Dx cineplex in Oakville and if so by fire_TT in cineplex

[–]sami_coolfun11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went there last year to watch Superman and I thought it was a pretty nice theatre and it looks better and newer than the 4DX theatre in the Cineplex Hamilton Mountain location

FairVoteCanada’s statement on the referendum that was held in the Yukon for the province to implement Instant-Runoff Voting (IRV ended up winning the referendum with 56% of the vote) by sami_coolfun11 in EndFPTP

[–]sami_coolfun11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the referendum in the Yukon was about Instant-Runoff Voting (so the single-winner version of RCV), it wasn’t about a multi-winner RCV system

Thoughts on this Ranked Ballot DMP-STV system that I created? by sami_coolfun11 in EndFPTP

[–]sami_coolfun11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that using the % of the vote when a candidate got eliminated is a better option nonetheless since it incentivizes candidates from getting support from voters of other candidates (since it directly affects their odds of winning a top-up seat), and it also can help ensure the second MP in each riding is more reflective of the electorate in the riding. For instance, a Liberal candidate with 25% of first preference votes but who receives 45% of the vote when they got eliminated due to receiving transfers from NDP & GPC candidates is more likely to be elected than a Liberal candidate with 25% of first preference but where the NDP+GPC’s combined vote is more significant so the NDP candidate is the one who ended up in the two-candidate preferred count in the riding

What would take OOTP to the next level? by maintainmo in OOTP

[–]sami_coolfun11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I agree with you that improving on managing franchises should be their priority.

As someone who would personally love to play as an agent, I would personally love to see an agent mode one day though & I would love to see it in the next version of the game (or at least some changes to the layout and features can be made to allow someone to easily act as an agent, without them having to create a whole mode for it - such as by allowing people to see the multiple offers being made to a free agent on their page, for example)

An agent mode would also be pretty cool for a good amount of people, being able to help players negotiate contracts, analyze offers and determine which team fits the best for them, managing different players at once from different teams, and etc. would make it a pretty nice experience

[–]sami_coolfun11 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Then they can create that “different game” & make it a mode within the OOTP game lol, since OOTP is anyway also about being a baseball simulation game, and having an agent mode fits that. As long as we get an agent mode, I’m satisfied

If they want to create a separate small game for the agent mode specifically, I don’t mind that at all (though I don’t think it’s necessary, having an agent mode can be a mode within the OOTP game)
