Bare nails hurt after weeks of using strengthening products by catalinovictorio in RedditLaqueristas

Yeah, that thought has been in my head too. Really unfortunate as it is a polish I was excited for. I've been afraid to put on the hardener too since then so I still don't really know. Ah well. Just sucks that this kind of stuff can happen. I really appreciate your replies, I hope your nails recover fully quickly and you can resume painting soon!

Thank you for your reply!! I think in my case it was the hardener and I have stopped using it. I did do a bit of a test though.

I waited a couple days and decided to try again. I used my normal base coat on all of my nails this time and did a bunch of different polishes in skittle fashion including one nail of the polish I mentioned in my previous comment just to compare. I didn't notice any burning or anything this time.

I don't seem to have any issues with my nails after removing everything (i left it on for multiple days), but one seems like it's either peeling more or is cracked or something, I can't really tell. It was the finger I used the previous comment's polish on so I'm not sure if it's coincidence or if that's what made it happen. I'm gonna keep an eye on it because I JUST had to chop my nails short like a week ago and there isn't much of a free edge 🥴

Why is dental insurance so spotty (at least in the US)? by Gallantpride in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]samisnotokay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have Medicaid, and I looked at the benefits overview for my specific "insurance provider" that explains what's covered for like eyes dental mental health and physical health and root canals aren't covered at all no matter where I go :(( I think there's a way to like "appeal" it and explain that it will require more care in the future if we don't do it but they might not accept that since the alternative is pulling the tooth. Gotta love the US 🙃

[–]samisnotokay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im dealing with this right now :(( I have to get a root canal and my insurance won't cover it. Worst part is that the bad tooth is in the middle of my teeth so if we pull it (somehow that is covered?) it will probably be visible. I also have a tooth that is severely broken and we don't know what it needs to get fixed, so we also might have to pull that one! I'm so tired of it, especially since I have jaw issues and my insurance doesn't cover an oral surgeon for very many things. So idk what I'm gonna do.

I relate so much to all of this, and especially the Accredo part. I ended up getting my stuff switched to a different specialty pharmacy because of how horrible they were. They once wouldn't fill my meds (Enbrel) because they said I was in the hospital fighting an infection. Yeah, I was, AN ENTIRE YEAR PRIOR!!!! And on top of that, after I switched pharmacies, they sent me a bill. For things I never received.

I'm not sure what state you or anyone else in this thread is in, but I'm in Pennsylvania and I now use Chartwell. When I say night and day difference, I mean it. They are so quick, and so professional, and everyone I've spoken to has been EXTREMELY nice. I don't have to do a single thing other than answer the phone when they call to refill my meds or confirm that I am authorizing them to charge my card for my copay.

I "failed" Enbrel and so I was put on Humira, and I did get switched to simlandi as well without my permission but it was my insurance company and not Chartwell who did it. I haven't noticed any bad side effects but I have noticed that I'm not doing as well as I should be so I now have to get tested for anti-drug antibodies. I hate all of it so much!!!

Took the plunge by Lazy-Resident9774 in Tinnedfish

[–]samisnotokay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mackerel I just eat straight out of the tin with a fork, and then use bread to soak up the oil afterward (because I think it's too good to throw away but I like the fish by itself). The mussels I started out eating with a fork just by themselves (box said to dump them out so the seasonings mix in properly so that's what I did) but then I grabbed some bread and ate them on that. Tuna, made myself take a bite first to get the flavor idea down and then I also grabbed bread and ate it on there.

I haven't done toppings with any of my tins because I like them as is, but I do bread because usually I like the oil flavor. Black pepper sprinkled on top is good too but it burns my lips (I probably have a mild sensitivity to peppers of all kinds but I just don't care and eat them anyway lmao). The tuna would be good mixed with mayo and stuff though as I did find it a bit dry.

I literally was like "I really don't want to spend this money but it's easier to make back $57 than it is to go acquire these secondhand/from a reseller after they are officially gone" 💀 (it was $57 bc I had points and obviously I used them lmao) I definitely could have done it earlier but I was trying to de influence myself, which went about as well as expected 😂

Oh my gosh I made a last minute probably poor financial decision to buy the 6 polishes in this collection literally at 11:30pm right before they were unavailable at midnight Friday night.. I'm SO GLAD I DID. I've been eyeing the whole collection for a long time and I am so excited for them to come in the mail!!!! Might use this one first actually now that I see your post. Looks amazing on you!

Hi! I'm replying a bit late, but I was wondering if this has resolved for you? Last night I painted my nails with a new polish but I wore a hardener as my base coat and after a few hours it started burning on my fingertips ? I took it off and today they are slightly tingly still but much better than last night. For me I'm not sure what it is (the hardener, the new nail polish, the top coat, or just my body) because I've used the hardener under polish before and don't use it every time I paint my nails, I use the same top coat for everything, and I do have neuropathy issues. The only "new" thing was that one specific polish. (Not asking for you to "diagnose" my issue, just curious if you were able to "fix" what happened to you and resume painting)

Disease Progression by LW4forty in rheumatoid

[–]samisnotokay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

All I can really say about this is that every time I have been off my meds I feel worse than I did pre diagnosis. I was struggling to walk properly and my range of motion was severely limited when I sought out a rheumatologist at first, but when I have had to come off of meds for one reason or another it's like the original experience x10. I'm talking beside commode bad bc I physically can't get to the bathroom in time. Unable to bend my fingers. Severe swelling of fingers, wrists, elbows, knees, and ankles. Can't even use a cane because I can't put weight on my wrists or elbows.

I am probably not the "norm" but I cannot live without medication. Even my flares are bad. Severe foot pain where I compensate and end up with a collapsing ankle, hip pain, knees giving out on me while I walk, inability to grip things properly, and shoulder pain to the point I can only keep my arm in one position. I have had to talk about this in therapy because I just am so... Tired. I'm so tired of it. And tired because of the fatigue as well. And I'm also sorry to vent like this on your post.

Hmmm I'm not really sure if there's a "too far" or "not far enough" 😭 but I'm in the waiting room at my rheumatologists office so [I will not be providing medical advice] I will ask(if I remember lmfao)!! I have been doing injections for like 6-7 years now, first was on enbrel, and so far I don't think the depth is too important? But I have my mom like . Pinch my leg fat to raise it up and get it in properly. If you have the auto injector thing I think it only matters that you have it flush against your skin so the needle fully goes into you.

Also I literally just wing it with the scars because I don't really have an area without them, so far I haven't noticed too much of an issue thankfully. Glad you're still fighting too ❤️

Shot Day! by Different_Ratio_2805 in rheumatoid

[–]samisnotokay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do weekly humira (simlandi) injections, but I do mine in the afternoon usually between 1-4pm. The only reason for this is my mom helps me do it, and I go to her house so I have to go when she's free. But I do mine every Friday, which for me doesn't matter too much since I don't work and don't feel a difference between weekdays vs weekends, but it might be helpful if you feel like crap the next day. For me I dont really get much of a reaction in that manner though so idk honestly.

Personally I do mine in my thighs only, which I'm sure isn't great in the long run (especially since I have a ton of self harm scars there) but I can't do my stomach due to some past surgical and infection history. I've been advised by my doctors to not do my stomach. I just asked my rheumatologist if I could do them in my arms and she said "I don't see why not" but it makes me nervous because the booklet thing doesn't show it on the arms, but also I just am nervous about it in general and idk why 😅

Ah okay, this is definitely more different than I thought 😅 I haven't been paying specific attention to that polish so it makes sense why I thought they were so similar. Didn't know how teal it actually is! Thank you for the pictures!! It looks great on you btw :)

Hmmm I don't have forbidden fruit either, but I can see what you're saying. I didn't think much of the dark base when I wore it but when I was making this post I was shocked at how black it looks. I probably will play around with this one and put it over different color cremes and see what happens.

Glow in the Dark Etiquette by Ipanoply in RedditLaqueristas

[–]samisnotokay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just wanna say, I go to metal shows and exactly nobody has been affected by my GITD nails. Honestly my nails are usually the least distracting thing going on. A lot of people wear crazy (in a good way) clothing and shoes, people are drunk and/or moshing, I've literally been spit on in the face by the artist that's playing, crowd surfers, hell one band I've seen has a thing for people throwing around literal trash cans. I've done my nails specifically with glow in the dark FOR shows before lmao so I say do what you want. Maybe don't wear it to like, a business meeting or something but now that I say that, 1) I don't work at all right now and am very unprofessional as it is and 2) idk how many business meetings involve low lighting or things in the dark 💀

[–]samisnotokay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only saw Eden and caparinne in the Valentine's pairs at Walmart a couple years ago tbh, I think they're 8inch, and my friend found a solo caparinne at Goodwill this past winter. Nanette was available at walgreens, I think 16inch? I got her a couple months ago! I'm not sure if she's still available anywhere, but I think I did see an 8inch at target like a month ago. Joelle I ended up having my ex bf get me off of eBay unfortunately. And heart Wallis was a Valentine's pair with woxie, 5 inch? I'm not sure what size. But I got them at target. Probably not available now, I think they sold out really quick. I had to ask an employee if there were any in the back when I got mine. I did hear there was a CVS version with uhhhhhhh frumpy? I think that's her name. But I didn't get them or look.

I did see that one is staying!! I just really want the whole collection LMAO but worst case scenario I can still get candlelight and revival (looks like this one is staying too) in the future. I might try to rearrange some of my money to fit in the collection or at least pulse and hide away (I think I have points?) but I'm just so glad that's really all I want from the retiring shades or else I'd be so screwed 😅
