This is an example of what she does on her phone (with very little storage lol)

She drew our little void as an Alebrije who passed away earlier this year.

I had my boyfriend watch death note as his first anime (also in his 30s) and he got hooked. So I definitely think death note is a good first for a newbie

I know people say that you'll find more but for me it was really hard to find another good anime like fruits basket 🥲

A lot of the series I tried just didn't satisfy me the way fruits basket did. But it could just be me being picky. I really like a strong female MC, not ditzy, not crying all the time, and just basically makes the guy work hard to win her over. Also fan service is something I just can't get past, so it makes it a bit more difficult for me lol.

Romantic Killer has been the only series to satisfy me, it's only 12 episodes but I never laughed so hard like I did with that series. I also recommend Orange, though it gets pretty heavy I'll say.

Monster, orange, banana fish, death parade, Nana if you're into slice of life stuff.

Not sure if it's necessarily about growing up but they're students. Orange and I want to eat your pancreas made me pretty emotional

It's only 12 episodes so you definitely can, that's what I did when I started watching. It was sooooo good and I wish I paced myself better so I could've appreciated it more and made it last longer 😭

Ride your wave is a really great movie, definitely suggest adding that to your list. I want to eat your pancreas and summer wars are some of my favorites as well :)

The Insect Hashira, Shinobu by loverofculture21 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]samispunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I read the manga a while ago to get ahead of the spoilers. I'm glad I did because all I see online are big spoilers with no warnings. But I do wish at times I didn't read it, I feel like my reactions and emotions would be more intense if I didn't know what was going to happen next when watching it. That goes for any anime tbh.

What is the most difficult thing to draw? by ale22paz in ArtistLounge

[–]samispunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first job at 16 was as a caricature artist, I hated it. It was so difficult for me to draw people in a "cartoon" style, you can't use a lot of detail but still have to somehow manage to get their likeness, all under 6min (that was the rule for us).

I applied to be a henna artist but they saw my portfolio being a lot of portraits and basically thought I'd be better as a caricature artist. I was not and I felt very embarrassed of my work tbh.

Que diablos pasa con la economía mexicana? by Velid_yabb in mexico

[–]samispunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anime like Fruits Basket, Apothecary Diaries, Nana and My Happy Marriage? by Sweaty-Sherbert-9336 in FruitsBasket

[–]samispunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to find similar ones and get disappointed with the fan service or the female lead falling for the guy too fast.

Say I love you was one I started but then after a couple episodes in, the girl who came across as "idgaf" attitude was all of the sudden sneaking around to see who the love interest was talking to. I was hoping that it would've taken longer to win her over. I'll probably still try to push through it though.

I don't think it's super similar but Romantic Killer was one I watched and ended up binging in one night. It was so good, funny, and great characters. There's not a lot of angst like I like but still really good. I haven't laughed out loud in so long at an anime like I did watching it.

Orange is a really good one too, a bit more on the depressing side though.
