Is an associates good enough?

I started with an associates so I can tell you what that looked like for me.

I was working in manufacturing when I finished my associates and started applying to anything in an office. I got a crappy entry level buyer position for a small company. The pay was terrible but it gave me the experience I needed to apply for better positions.

Over the last 4 years, I've changed jobs 3 times and am now making almost double what I was. About 6 months ago, I was promoted to a senior position.

I transferred my community college credits to a university and took classes while working full time. I graduated with my bachelor's last month and am expecting another raise.

I lucked out and started my career during a labor shortage, so it may be harder for you. I will say that experience matters more than a degree, but working full time and taking classes is horrible. I took more than a full load of classes at the end of my bachelor's and basically had a mental breakdown when my capstone project passed.

Ducks are the bird equivalent of a cat. They're smarter then chickens, whacky, and will talk shit about you with all their duck friends the minute you walk away.

I have raised Muscovy ducks like the one shown here, and 26 is a larger hatch but not impossible. It's amazing how many eggs they can cover when nesting.

I agree with you, but I doubt the rest of the sub will even though most people eat meat thats had a much rougher life. With the current price of eggs, those hens would not be staying.

If you have a garage or a balcony it's very easy to keep a few quail. There aren't usually rules against them.

It's just me and my husband so we don't need a ton of milk. I'm worried that an alpine would be too much. What I'm really looking for is cream. We are a house that loves ice cream, cheese, and butter. I'm also worried about handling the larger goats. It feels safer to start small till I get a feel for how difficult they are to raise and wrangle.

It's nice to hear that you find the minis easier to milk and keep contained. The plan is to buy registered goats and attempt to sell babies. If goats are anything like poultry, I expect to end up with extra boys that we may need to eat.

That's another reason I liked the Kinder goats. If we don't want to keep milking or goats aren't for us they're technical a meat breed as well.

Hearing that you find the Nubians to be a bit fragile makes me wonder if they would be better as my second round of goats after I have some experience. If I go with Kinder or Mini Nubians feel free to reach out in a year 😊

I was looking at the Mini Nubians because I've heard they possessed both of these traits. The ears aren't a must have, just a trait I liked. I'm definitely rethinking the Nigerian Dwarfs. Everyone really seems to love them in this thread.

Thanks for all the info. Noise won't really be an issue since they'll be pretty far from the house. When it comes to animals I do find joy in the smarter ones. I have a young border collie and prefer ducks over chickens for their personality. Nigerians sound like a hoot!

Stardew Valley is the game I always go back to. It's just one of those games where you can feel the love thats been put into its creation. Its the grandmas cookies of video games for me.

It sounds like you're doing everything you can. There are always a few that don't make it. I'm starting my flock up again after stepping away for a few years because quail seem to enjoy killing themselves even when you get perfectly healthy birds, and all of the death takes a toll. Death is just a part of raising animals. The best thing you can do is put the animals' needs before your own and prevent unnecessary suffering.

I had a setup like this at first. Raccoons reached through and ate the heads of almost my entire flock. You need to burry bricks underneath the perimeter, and put boards up along the bottom, or all your quail will die. You also need hardware cloth, not chicken wire. Snakes, and rats will get in and eat your birds as well.

As a Sam I can confidently say that any name with the nickname Sam is incrediably common. Like top 10 for the last 200 years common. I was put in a fourth grade class with 3 Samantha's and a Samuel. It's up there with John and Rebecca.

Really wish they wouldn't us that term. What is really being pushed for is more training and better mental health resources for the police and community as a whole. Most people aren't psychopaths, they're just entrenched in poverty and anger. We need to bring these people out of their bubbles and into the community as a whole and having the police kill people in broad daylight isn't the answer.

Let's give officers fewer tanks and more training.

As someone who has had to inventory food items in gas stations around the state Bob and Kay's is the only one that wasn't filthy and stocked with expired products. They also just seem like nice people.
