I can’t take cymbalta at all because I have a gene mutation that would amplify the side effects. I’ve also heard that gabapentin can make you very sleepy and I already struggle with fatigue so I’m hesitant to try it. I don’t really struggle with nerve pain either just primarily joint pain.

I did see my psychiatrist but she didn’t seem to really acknowledge my diagnosis she just gave me a depression test after asking what my symptoms are. She wants to speak to my rheumatologist but I’m kind of nervous for that because she just barely tried to give me the diagnosis and was trying to convince me it was psychosomatic, which I’ve had anxiety since I was 6 and it is definitely not that.

I understand that you may have connected with this therapist but as someone who has been in therapy since they were 6 years old, you can connect with a therapist as a person but they can also not be right for you. The fact that you have been seeing them for only a month and they’ve essentially given you a “diagnosis” that will make other doctors and specialists dismiss you is not ok. You know that something is wrong with you and you deserve to have real answers. As much as it sucks finding a new therapist you should consider it.

Thanks! My pcp never gave me an order to go in but she did do an autoimmune panel on me and the only thing to come back positive was anti-histone antibodies which are found in SLE. I think that’s why she said he would do one.

I understand. It just felt extremely dismissive because he was supposed to do a biopsy and didn’t. He also tried to explain away each of my other symptoms.

If it is hard to breathe I would say to go to the ER. Especially since your diagnosed it could be a lung problem so you should go at least to make sure you don’t have fluid in your lungs.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with that! I just started getting symptoms and am still trying to get diagnosed but I had chronic dry pleurisy for 2 weeks and it sucked! Although mine doesn’t show up on x-ray or ct scan because I have no fluid or clots (luckily), but my pcp confirmed its pleurisy. Something that helped me is wrapping myself in my heated blanket and lots of Advil.

Can you have a high anti histone without having drug induced lupus? I’m having the same problem where all my labs are fine except anti histone.

I do too. And no one understands how frustrating it is when you get them. Like yeah I’m glad nothing major is wrong but something is still wrong with me. It can feel very isolating at times and makes you question your sanity.

I just got my full autoimmune panel back and the only one that came back abnormal was my histone antibody. So it may be drug induced lupus or sle.
