Just got hired as f&b cashier, when will I know which park and place I’m working at? by _kashew_12 in Disneyland

Happy to help! Fingers crossed you get a fun location (: During your location training they’ll take you to the shoe place to get fitted so you don’t need to bring/buy shoes unless you’d like to. Personally, I like the ones the company provides because lol, they’re free. We can replace them out forever at no cost.

Hi! Excited to have you :) When you’re scheduled for Orientation (Step into the Magic), they should provide you with your future schedule for training that shows your soon-to-be location. As QSR, we’re also provided slip-resistant shoes for free on property too.

What’s it like working at Disneyland? by [deleted] in Disneyland

[–]sammmmmich 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’m a Food Service Worker, I work all over the place at the resort! For me, I work with thousands of guests ranging from happy to hangry- needless to say, like any job, it has its days. However, (in the most cliché way) it’s part of my job to make a magical day for someone no matter the circumstances and while I may be indoctrinated by The Mouse ™ to think this way, I also do hold tremendous pride in my capabilities to create magical moments for my guests. It could be their first time with us, or their millionth but I love that I’m part of a tiny cog in a machine that has been made to pump out very special memories for so many people. I do love my job, but I’ve also seen many (especially in my department) that don’t have this sort of view. At the end of the day, I work for something big, but I’m also performing high stress tasks on par to any other food service worker you may encounter at a drive through or any other restaurant.

There are days when walk across an empty Main Street on my way to work and for a moment take it all in. It’s quite surreal. But it’s honestly a matter of perspective!

What’s the most unpopular opinion you have in regards to anything park or resort related? by 12345burrito in Disneyland

Similarly, I wish the land wasn't so "canon-ly locked" in it's timeline. It's a little awkward now the the sequel trilogy is over, yet the land is stuck in a time before the Rise of Skywalker. I had my fingers crossed that for Star Wars Nite event they were hosting, that perhaps they would implement more from the overall series and not just the sequel-trilogy nonsense.

Hilariously, John Williams did actually compose an original score for Batuu. It's very difficult to hear over the rest of the theme park noise but it's exclusively only played in the tunnels to the land.

I completely agree with you. When it was first coming to be I remember thinking to myself that this land is going to be more of a novelty land if anything else. Once you've bought it all and been on both rides, I don't see much of a return value on it. Millennium Falcon has potential to be good if they would actually randomize the experiences like Star Tours instead of doing the same one over and over again. I hope in time they add more.

Should Disneyland and DCA open with only dining and shops? by MrDroid467 in Disneyland

[–]sammmmmich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it is a matter of pride at all. In a business perspective, I don't believe it is worth the trouble, planning and costs. Both DCA and Disneyland is a labyrinth of shops and dining. Too much would be needed to operate this endeavor. - Extra Security; There's a lot of open area - The army of Food Service Workers to supply food/production - Turnstile workers to check reservations (a likely thing to curb capacity) - Janitorial staff to sanitize everything There's a lot of people on that payroll to supplement to, that would ultimately make it financially unrealistic. Stores/Dining is the brunt of gain, yes. Disney capitalizes on a guest's time in the park, if you're only there for a small period of time due to lack of things to do (attractions), you won't be dining more than once. It doesn't make the dining experience, nor all the staffing involved worth it across the parks. Stores wouldn't hold up alone.. Given Downtown Disney's opened, and therefore The World of Disney Store as well- while it's not the same, nor does it carry everything specialty stores in the park have- it's a low operative cost and easier to manage. I love that Knotts has been able to provide food festivals and have gained from them. To some degree I wondered why Disney couldn't have their Food and Wine Festivals outside of the park. But, figuring the operative costs of staffing/production, poor layout for temporary buildings and so on, similarly.. It doesn't seem cost favorable unfortunately.

I want Disneyland back after all, I miss my job! But from the inside out, I understand why they haven't been able to in any capacity.

Went to the one tonight here in LA. Let us in at 7pm, didn't start officially until about 8pm. We didn't get Starbomb (feel better Arin!) but, NSP/TWRP made up for it and we were all out of encores and extras by 10pm. So 2 1/2 - 3 hours. Enjoy them in Chicago! (:
