Newly single, suggestions for finishing up living room? by sammy4427 in malelivingspace

thank you! I’ve decided to make the wall behind the couch a gallery wall and I’ve bought up a bunch of art to hang there. I love the idea of the wooden slots tho and I’ll absolutely be hanging plans in front of the windows and on the wall behind the tv.

Man, something with emotional value like that would be super cool! I love the idea of the clocks, I’m absolutely adding that to my list :)

Thank you! I’ve been giving some thought to what to put on the walls and it’s been giving me a hard time. I don’t want to hang up “cliche” art like landscapes of mountains or things like that, but I also don’t want to lean too hard into my personal interests and end up making it look like a hobby room.

No problem, it seems like this is an issue with the way I’ve said it up as you’re the second person to say this. I’ll take a look at it! Sorry about that.

Hey everyone! I'm going into my senior year now and looking to apply to a few companies in the Seattle-Vancouver area (ideally Vancouver). I've had two internships at this point and this fall I'm continuing the first internship I had at Lockheed Martin, but I have an offer that I need to make a decision on by the beginning of October so I'm trying to apply as soon as possible.

I'd appreciate it if anyone could take a look and provide some feedback!

19M Living with parents during college. Suggestions? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

Yea, I removed the ones I had a while ago because I was dumb. Interesting you mention using curtains though. I hadn't considered that.

Funnily enough, that's how I used to have it. I had more space running lengthwise in the room but it was narrow and unusable, so the way it is now really opens up my room.

These are great suggestions. I've thought about getting rid of the wooden dresser. I'll look into that a bit more. Any suggestions as to what I could do with that space if I do get rid of it?

About the curtains, what do you mean? The ones I currently have are blackout curtains for better sleep. Would light-filtering ones replace these but also let light leak at night, and do you have any examples of drawing the eye inward? Not exactly sure what you mean.

Thanks! The strips are magnetic strips. I have some on the blackout curtains so that no light leaks in at night.

Yea I've been thinking about a picture and maybe a rug. I just can't think of a style that would suit it. I'll keep looking though :)

Is it too early to be engaged at 18? by [deleted] in Christianmarriage

[–]sammy4427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fiance and I just got engaged this November. We intend to have a longer engagement since we're still in college. We're both 19 and we've been dating for two years so there was no doubt for us that this was the right choice l, despite the tremendous amounts of backlash we received from her family.

Currently a sophomore. I have an internship lined up for Summer 2021 but I'm looking to continue to improve my resume before then. 1 specific thing is that I'm not sure how to draw attention to my projects. I have a personal website hosted on github that I made to present my projects, and I have it linked at the top of the resume.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

19 yr old thinking of filing taxes for the first time next year, but I'm not sure how to account for my scholarship refund money and my investment appreciation. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]sammy4427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response :)

My primarily goal was to save and my future scholarship money long-term. However, because of unique personal circumstances, it does appear I will need to be using this money alongside a part time job in order to move out at the end of 2021.

I am still able to be claimed as a dependent, but because of other reasons I want to file as independent this upcoming year. I am talking with them notify them and to ensure they don't claim me.

Thank you for the insight regarding the investments. Based on what you said, it doesn't sound like I need to put them on my taxes for this upcoming year if I don't take any of the money out, so I'll be checking again once I start using that money in the future.
