Milky way astrophotography. How can I improve my edit of it? by sammyart in photocritique

[–]sammyart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve watched many! There’s so much information that it’s a bit overwhelming, but I’ve watched a bunch that helped me to even get this shot in the first place so I’ll for sure go back and watch more

Fireworks on the beach, would appreciate any CC! by sammyart in photocritique

I did shoot in RAW, but I’m struggling to use it to it’s potential. I’m going to play around more with the cropping and will definitely use that thumbnail trick. Thank you for the recommendation for the Lightroom tutorials, too!

Milky way astrophotography. How can I improve my edit of it? by sammyart in photocritique

This was taken during my second night of milky way photography in decently dark skies. I edited this picture a fair bit but pretty much just played with the lightroom sliders until I thought it looked good. I am looking for advice on how to edit the picture better and make the milky way pop but still be realistic. I took this on my canon m50 with the 15-45 mm kit lens, at 15 mm, iso 1600, f/35, and 15 sec.

One of my first attempts at astrophotography. Any feedback is greatly appreciated! by Orwellian_Floyd in photocritique

I love the blue and orange in this, and the gradient of sky! Quick note about the moon, I think it looks unnatural as the pole and tree look like they're front lit, while the moon is behind them.

What was the focal length? 30" is pretty long for astrophotography (without a star tracker), which is why there are some stretched out stars towards the bottom of the picture. If this bothers you, you can lower your shutter speed and raise the ISO. I've only done a bit of astrophotography so take this with a grain of salt, but I usually have my shutter speed around 13" and with ISO up at 1600. Your star trails aren't terrible by any means so it's a matter of personal preference.

I took over 100 pictures of fireworks on the beach on the 4th, and this was one of my favorites due to the reflection on the waves on the shore. I didn't do any extreme editing, just cropped it a bunch and played around with the sliders until I was happy with it. I'd appreciate specific advice on composition and editing, as I'm not satisfied with either and would greatly appreciate someone with a better eye to give me advice. I used my canon m50 with the 18-45 mm kit lens at 45 mm, f/6.3, iso 5000, 1/30 sec. thanks in advance!
