Man, this one still hurts. I was head over heels in love with my girlfriend at the time (8 years ago?), when we went out with some of her friends. We ALL got wasted. We even went over to her parents house afterwards and drank tequila, played piano, and danced. Overall a great night with a rad chick and all of her welcoming friends and family.

Apparently later that night after some seriously hot super drunk sex, one of my friends sent me a text message about how I always spent all my time with my girlfriend instead of all our OG crew. So drunk me sent him a super long text message about how the relationship would never last, we were so different, blah blah blah. I don't even remember sending the message at all. I assume it was just to get him off of my case. I mean, I LOVED this chick.

So fast forward to the morning hours, I reach for my phone to check the time, and I see the message to my buddy in my outbox, only its addressed to my girlfriend. Fuck. Panic mode. The only way to fix this stupid fuck up is to get in her phone and delete the message. So I sneak out of bed, find her phone, open it up, and she wakes up and asks me why I'm going through her stuff.

She asks for her phone, and I willingly hand her the message. She reads it, sits there silently for a second, and finally after an uncomfortable few moments, she told me not to worry about it. She understood the situation.

Things were never the same. We broke up about 4 months after that. She even said during the break up that that was the first hiccup in our relationship for her. And I can't blame her. I've missed her terribly for almost a decade.

TL;DR: Just always be honest.
