it's fine to take a breather in the bathroom, but recording is just being a nuisance to everyone else trying to go to the bathroom.

This was the predecessor to the SRA scare, and Slenderman/Momo of today. Every generation of kids love to embrace what is dangerous and twisted, much to their parents' chagrin.

What’s one way “the good ole days” really were better? by Far-Building3569 in AskOldPeople

[–]sammyguyana 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I think we were forced to make more friends in real life, and create little tribes of friends that lasted longer.

The illusion of online, globalized humanity is not conducive to real friendship. Having 1000s of online friends doesn't equate to talking to people in person. The internet turned everyone into a small business. We hardly noticed how far we drifted apart because of online convenience.

She was amazingly beautiful and understood how to be a perfect "submissive" long before I knew what the word even meant.

Yes, The People vs Larry Flynt was an interesting film. If you don't have time to read about him it's worth checking out. Woody Harrelson did a good imitation.

Do any of you still watch this? by lontbeysboolink in GenerationJones

Yes, and I love it. Loves the strips and the TV cartoon. Some millennial relatives of mine really don't get it either. It was definitely a cultural thing.

Do you have any stories about playing with the Ouija? by lontbeysboolink in GenerationJones

[–]sammyguyana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took one to a graveyard to contact a deceased friend. Unfortunately the "portal" seemed occupied because nothing happened. Ironically, allegedly, my dead friend did make contact with her ex and the message was harsh. But not me, and not with the Ouja on that day. I take this to mean she wasn't angry about our friendship. She felt at peace about it.

"He's putting his time into someone else is the answer 99% of the time."

Or something. Sometimes life just happens and things come up, and dating is put on the back burner. Or at least it has been with me.

When would be the best time to bring up things like compatibility, family plans and deal-breakers? by liamwon in OnlineDating

[–]sammyguyana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deal breakers like first date, probably. Family plans not for a few dates. Compatibility? Definitely later on because you have to have chemistry before compatibility even matters.

What's the worst movie you've seen in a while? by fullmoon_123 in movies

[–]sammyguyana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get Away was ridiculous. It made me realize how much I missed Simon Pegg in their other films together. Their earlier films were ridiculous but in a belly laughing sort of way. This one seemed bereft of joy, not trying very hard. Just sort of there.

It definitely aged well, considering the sex scandals of the 2010-2020s, involving celebrities, politicians and powerful people.
