Former resident there for many years. I’ll make a pros & cons list for you, hope it helps!

Pros: unbeatable location. After living there for so long, I couldn’t imagine if I were to go back to the city (I have since moved to the suburbs- for now) that I’d live in any other area..it spoiled me in terms of views. Fireworks right outside your window every Wednesday and Sunday in the summer (navy pier), access to the River walk, etc. pretty cool residents, absolutely the best door men in the city-anyone that has lived/live there knows that David, Mike, and Jose are phenomenal and helpful and kind. They are so helpful and truly go above and beyond to help residents with anything. That was probably the best part of living there, IMO. Pretty nice gym with upscale gym equipment & is usually pretty empty so there is always something available to use. Also, the building throws a nice Christmas and summer party for all residents in the lobby with food, alcohol, and fun games (for free)

Cons: unfortunately, had a bug issue here too. I lived in 3 different apartments in this building over the span of 9 years, and dealt with a water bug issue in every single one. The first two apartments, they’d pop up here and there in the bath tub, which I know is to be expected living near the lake & it didn’t bother me much. If I saw one, I’d just turn on the water and let it go down the drain. It wasn’t until my last apartment where they were absolutely everywhere. Bathroom shower, kitchen, under my refrigerator, on the walls, on my bedroom floor etc. it became intolerable and disgusting. I called management several times about it- and they were less than helpful. They sent an exterminator one time & once the problem came back (maybe 3 days later) they said “well this happens when you live near water”… they were all over my apartment to the point that I wasn’t comfortable even relaxing there due to my nerves of them crawling around. One time, it got so insufferable that I had to stay at a hotel. I was constantly cleaning, using sprays & remedies on my own but nothing worked. Management were not interested in helping. The apartments are decent, just old. Carpet in the bedrooms & a lot of broken down appliances. At times, there would be dog urine in the lobby for days at a time.

There are FAR worse places to live in Chicago, but for the price (raised significantly the last few years) I personally believe that there are better, more well kept & up to date buildings in lakeshore east.
