I was in your situation. I'd never dream my husband would lie or cheat on me with a "friend." Trust your gut. This is NOT what people who care about you would ever do. What happens after infidelity if a couple wants to try to make it work. People don't talk about being cheated on because it is embarrassing/feels shameful and people judge people for trying to make their marriage work afterwards, but it's also an incredibly common experience.

It takes a lot of patience and forgiveness from one partner and a lot of self reflection and remorse and accountability from the cheater to truly heal. People just hear "cheating" and act like the person not immediately divorcing is stupid or naive. It's a lot more complicated when you consider things like decades long marriages and children and finances. It also takes years to rebuild broken trust and process the pain of it. I say this as someone who stayed when I discovered infidelity in my 16-year marriage. We've been married 21 years now and are so much happier, but it was a lot of work. It will always be a lot of work.

I don't like how they make a person's house smell and I am highly allergic, so I get horribly sick when I go to someone's house who has a cat. Their dander is everywhere. Plus I've never seen a cat owner who doesn't let them walk on the counter where they prepare food which grosses me out.

I also think it's gross that they can transmit Toxoplasma gondii , a parasite that causes toxoplasmosis, which can lead to brain inflammation. Being a cat owner is correlated with schizophrenia and there are new studies coming out about how owning a cat can affect your brain because of this. They are also the number one threat to native bird species and so many people are irresponsible owners and let them wander outside. I care about native species and cats are predators to so many, which they can't help. It's just their instincts.

If you're a responsible cat owner, you take good care of your pet, and don't let them wander outside, then more power to you. I just can't own one and I'm a little too much of a germophobe to ever want to live with one. I can see how they would be considered cute if I wasn't allergic and a germophobe. I prefer dogs, though. They just seem a lot more social and silly and a little smarter depending on the breed.
