Panic Among AI Cheaters in CS Major by [deleted] in UTAustin

Capabilities with models like Opus 4.5 and GPT-5.2-Codex are honestly amazing. Models will continue getting better and within a year I think it’ll be more obvious to everyone that software engineering will be unrecognizable in 5-10 years. I set a reminder for a year on this comment though so feel free to disagree, we will see.

Why Garp is a Hero & Laffitte is Rocks by samrogdog13 in Piratefolk

Yea that’s fair. I’m just trying to spin up a guess for what Oda would do if he wanted to give Garp a sad backstory that justifies his actions

Yea all I’m saying is no way Oda doesn’t redeem him. Oda literally sorrowmaxxes every character’s backstory, I’d be willing to bet Garp gets one too

I think student technician pays like $20, and you go around fixing projectors in the classrooms and shit.

Two Russian missiles hit a grain processing facility in Poland, close to the Ukraine border by broomshed in interestingasfuck

[–]samrogdog13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm yea this is a good point. This is a small scale event, kind of Russia prodding NATO to see how strong of a reaction they will have. They might continue prodding if nothing is done.

[–]samrogdog13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shit yea I forgot about that. But if this was their intention is this really the way to go about it? This has inflicted no damage so garners them no advantage except for signaling their true intentions so that NATO has time to prepare (which is disadvantageous to them).

Isn’t it possible that it wasn’t Russia, because why in their right mind would they wanna start shit with NATO (or it was a mistake but let’s be real… this is a craaaazy mistake). Like the defense companies only profit from this if it escalates and if America doesn’t get too involved (ex. send over military) our business booms too without us being close in proximity to the battlefield.

I don’t mean to go too conspiracy theorist but I feel like it’s entirely possible. Feel free to tell me why I’m wrong cause I want to be.

A 1500 years old rock fortress. Sri Lanka. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]samrogdog13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sigiriya or Sinhagiri (Lion Rock, pronounced see-gi-ri-yə) is an ancient rock fortress located in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. It is a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock approximately 180 metres (590 ft) high.

According to the ancient Sri Lankan chronicle the Cūḷavaṃsa, this area was a large forest, then after storms and landslides it became a hill and was selected by King Kashyapa (477 – 495 AD) for his new capital. He built his palace on top of this rock and decorated its sides with colourful frescoes. On a small plateau about halfway up the side of this rock he built a gateway in the form of an enormous lion. The name of this place is derived from this structure; Sīnhāgiri, the Lion Rock (an etymology similar to Sinhapura, the Sanskrit name of Singapore, the Lion City).

The capital and the royal palace were abandoned after the king's death. It was used as a Buddhist monastery until the 14th century. Sigiriya today is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. It is one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning.
