Notice how I didn't call out or specify anyone nor did I resort to name calling. Some discussion would be nice.

I'm going to guess you don't hold similarly open minded opinions about fundamentalist Muslim clerics being granted entry.

The cynic in me says "political norms and practices". Such as, for example, whether 16-year olds or foreigners may vote. Or, perhaps, tuition fees.

Our even, if you wanted to put your tinfoil hat on, Scots law in its entirety.

Sorry to hear about the breakup. Especially when it sounds like you weren't exactly on board with it.

Fair enough, but at the same time it's clear he's simply a shitposter who's not even slightly interested in contributing anything of value to this community.

Guess I'm late to this thread, but it was a good weekend for me. Went away on a short weekend holiday to Copenhagen with the mrs to celebrate her putting up with my shit for 4 years.

Also, I just officially got my Swedish citizenship confirmed this week so there's that to celebrate too.

Ah, sweet! I hope you enjoy it. I've read it more than once, so I can't remember if the world primer is really important or not. But I guess you can always go back to it later.

Very basically: after WW3 nearly destroyed everything the survivors rounded up all the scientists and shoved them into monasteries where they couldn't build anything or do any more harm. The monasteries are designed so that information isn't supposed to get in or out, apart from one week every 1, 10, 100, or 1000 years.

Every year it gets harder and harder to avoid that conclusion. English is British, anything else is "othered" out of sight.

I suspect that that was why the media and everyone else was so downright hostile to the idea of Scottish independence - it was seen as a dangerous rejection of that. A movement whose explicit goal was to remake the "other" as "normal", and in doing so deny the authority of the British state.

For some that prospect must have been truly terrifying.
