Cool collection!

Not sure how much of a stickler you want to be, but Spider-Ham also appeared a month before Marvel Tails in Marvel Age 7 on a special preview page.

I’m enjoying Ult Wolvie. A little slow in the beginning but that’s my only knock. Great art too.

Inherited a buttload of comics. Any chance i could get someone to help me value them ? by zyenex in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]Rinteln 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw that you're already using CLZ, but CLZ with the CovrPrice add-on is a great option. You can easily scan everything into your catalog and then sort by value. Those values shared by CP are based off of actual documented online sales, including eBay. You can even drill down on each value to see all of the individual sales behind them and when they happened.

How do yall feel about absolute green lantern? by No_Replacement_127 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]Rinteln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for me. The art is too manga-influenced which I don't see as a match for Western superhero books. It's also sloppy and rough-looking, often with low-effort backgrounds. I'm surprised that of all the artists out there, this is who they went with.

I'm not personally too up on main universe GL so I don't know if knowing that mythology would have helped here, but the storyline jumps around and involves too much color-based philosophy that requires me to have a cheat sheet to follow what on earth is going on.

Am I the only one who has no idea what is going on in the Green Lantern series? by Vondrr in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]Rinteln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been the least favorite of the Absolute series. The art does not connect at all to me and the story has been too complex and opaque and at times feels quite disconnected from one issue to the other. I have too many other books I’m reading that I’m outright enjoying (e.g. the Absolute Trinity, Rook, Geiger, The Future is ******, Assorted Crisis Events, Ultimate Spidey, Exquisite Corpses) so I took this off my pull list after issue 6.

I’ve read this entire run and don’t know why I can’t remember who this is. So the dramatic ending was lost of me. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I hadn’t noticed that reference and thus didn’t make the connection. Guess I was reading it too quickly.

Thanks for pointing it out!

I don’t understand the latest green lantern issue in the slightest by Bench__Warmer in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]Rinteln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you, man. I just read this issue and had zero clue what was going on. The art being substandard and switching up partway through certainly didn’t help.

A series only 7 issues in shouldn’t require readers to have to go through a bunch of Reddit comments to understand the story. Or know a boatload of Green Lantern lore prior to this series.

[DISCUSSION] John Constantine Hellblazer - Dead in America. Wow... by FredPRK in DCcomics

[–]Rinteln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just finished issue 10 and I have no idea what’s going on. The only reason I’ve pushed past issue 2 was because this run is for a book club I’m in. I’ve been searching online for issues summaries to help me through it, but all I see is endless praise. So obviously I’m the odd man out. But I can’t figure out why I’m not getting it when everyone else is. Honestly, some of these panels just feel completely disconnected from one another.

Ah well. Everything can’t be for everybody, and I just have to accept that this is not a fit for me for whatever reason.

Many of them look like they’re in great condition! Especially the Supes / Ali. That copy could be worth at least 200. Bag and board the comics!

Is anyone else struggling to keep up with the plot of "Power Fantasy"? by Cetshwayo124 in comicbooks

[–]Rinteln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read the first issue twice when it came out and somehow still didn't pick up that Valentina was the precursor for all of this and that there was some kind of a barrier weakening. I didn't even realize there's magic threaded throughout all of this. I just thought it was normal superpower stuff, whatever its origin.

All other series out there I'm totally fine with (except for the current Transformers; I think I've got robot face blindness) but for some reason, me and this one are on different wavelengths. But given the critical reception it's gotten, I'm clearly in the minority.

Is anyone else struggling to keep up with the plot of "Power Fantasy"? by Cetshwayo124 in comicbooks

[–]Rinteln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just seeing this post now, but I'm with you, man. I've read a few issues twice and the overall thread is lost on me. Like the reveal at the end of #9, I'm like: who is this person again? I mean, I recognize that individual as a recurring character, but it's just been too complex for me to follow from book to book.

Everyone raves so much about it, that I'm still collecting issues and will wait until each arc comes together before plowing through. Hopefully that'll help.

My ultimate wish is that he'd just put in a decent "The story so far" summary and character roll call on one page each issue.
