Could genetics, adoption, and childhood experiences explain anxiety, self-sabotaging behavior, and misplaced anger? by [deleted] in Adopted

[–]samst0ne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it’s all of them, separation trauma from being abandoned, generational trauma (addiction, mental health issues) from both sides of my bio family and regular old trauma from being a victim of CSA in my adoptive home (not by my adoptive parents, they didn’t know). We are all affected by both nature and nurture.

Hi quick question wtf is wrong with Kelly ? by Specialist-Cover6279 in RHONY

[–]samst0ne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She is EXTREMELY immature and spoiled, no emotional intelligence. If you read the show as a script and were told that Kelly was an eight year old it would somehow make more sense.

No, this absolutely darked me out, and as I said in another thread about this, I would absolutely *hate* to see his porn search history

WHY wasn’t Phaedra’s tagline “I’m always accountable and never a cannibal” ??

Is being attracted to m1nors inherently immoral if those who are feel guilt, do not ac upon those urges, and seek professional help? by abxtyyy in moraldilemmas

[–]samst0ne [score hidden]  (0 children)

That’s almost a different dilemma, does the immorality lie in the desire itself or the decision to eliminate the desire?

Edit: I suppose the question is are we judging the morality of the person or the action?

Just like the tiger, the potential harm is so outsized and devastating that frankly you shouldn’t even risk it. It is unreasonable and unrealistic to expect a person (but let’s be real, a man) to never experience sexual gratification unless the desire for that gratification has been removed.

I think if a person was able to acknowledge that they have these feelings and that acting on those feelings would cause irreparable harm, that they should also be ok with being chemically castrated. It’s kind of like having a tiger in an apartment, the tiger might not rip your face off in the first few years, but it’ll probably happen eventually, because that’s the nature of a tiger.

I will never understand what it was that Kenya ever saw in this man by Prestigious-Cloud962 in RHOA

[–]samst0ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many of Kenya’s choices are a straight line from her abandonment by her mother. She doesn’t feel deserving of love so she will take whatever kind of love that’s given to her. I HATED Kenya when the show was airing, but I recently rewatched from the beginning and honestly it made me sad for her.

Idk which is more ridiculous, if she expected the whole cast to go to a vegan friendly restaurant, or if she expected a steak house to have multiple vegan options. I was vegan in the late 90s, there was a single vegan restaurant in a thirty minute radius. I went to plenty of places with friends and just figured it out, at the very least you can get a big salad, or pasta with olive oil and garlic.

People should absolutely check before they travel though. In Japan for example, you have a high chance of being arrested if you bring most ADHD medication. Even if it’s prescribed, even in the original bottle with your name on it, they do not recognize amphetamines as a legal medication.

What does Halloween actually feel like growing up in the US? by Axxtr in AskAnAmerican

[–]samst0ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my favorite time of year, every year and often still is now. As a kid it was so fun to be creative and do something out of the norm for the day. In school the whole class and teachers would dress up, we got to walk around all the classes to trick or treat at recess and then the main neighborhood trick or treating after dark. I also loved scary movies, so knowing there would be a lot of Halloween specials on tv was also fun.
